About that chest with the masks...

<p>So what is the secret of the toy chest with the Lucan and Antonia masks?  My main went there with two other people and saw the chest each time until it was his time to loot it.  The third time he didn't see the chest, but the last group member to get the masks saw it fine. </p><p>This morning, though, I took a couple of characters there to two-box the instance, specifically to get these characters their masks.  However, the chest isn't there.  They've now completed the quests and got their mirrors and little head dealies and their lovely cloaks, but the toy chest never showed up.  Anyone know why?  These two girls are just DYING to get theri Antonia masks!</p>

<p>Lets see...</p><p>Got the quest, went inside the haunted house.</p><p>Completed the zone, took the mirror for a reward, spoke with the guy outside and got the cloak.</p><p>Went back inside, got the quest to choose the Circlet, found the toy chest and got the Antonia mask...</p><p>And that was it for me.</p>

<p>Yes, that's what happened for my main character, too.  Just can't figure out why these two other characters haven't been able to see the chest at all.</p>

<p>All twelve of my characters saw that chest only <em>one</em> time - and that was during their <em>second</em> run of the mansion (not the first). On subsequent trips, while grouped with folks who didn't get a mask yet (on <em>their</em> second outings), they saw the chest and got their masks even though I could no longer see it.</p>

( the books could still be seen and picked up on subsequent visits)</p>

<p>I went to the haunted house last night for the third time (solo). The first two times I went through and got the circlet and the mirror. I didn't see the chest, but perhaps it was there and I just didn't notice it (didn't know it existed at the time).</p><p>When I went in last night, I got the quest offered to me again with the mirror as a reward. I accepted the quest and went through the zone. This time I knew about the chest and it was there. I chose the Lucan mask and I plan on running through again later today to get the Antonia mask. When I finished the instance, I received another mirror as well (woohoo!).</p>

If you succeed please let us know - no one I've spoken with has been able to quest both masks on separate runs because you only actually get to see the chest <em>once</em> (although I was told that the quest is flagged 'repeatable' - I can't find it in my quest journal to confirm this). </p>

<p>Well, for some reason neither of those characters could see the chest, not on any of the four times they've been there.  I checked each time...</p><p>I must have done something out of order that borked it all up...</p>

When I finished the instance, I received another mirror as well (woohoo!).</p></blockquote><p>That stinks, I went in a third time last night and didn't get any reward at the end (was hoping for another mirror)-I'll have to try it again to see if I got some weird glitch or if you're just not supposed to be able to get it multiple times and other people have gotten lucky.</p><p>Interesting side note, I already had the Lucan and Antonia masks from trick or treating the first time and they're marked Lore, but the game still gave me the Antonia mask when I got the quest in the Mansion.</p>

<p>I've done the house several times now in various characters, and despite that second visit for any given character prompting the appearance of the toy chest, the person I've been helping clicked it. Can't fault them for it and I'm not terribly bothered, they see something to click and would do so, considering that's how the whole house works really eh.</p><p>Might have been a good idea to have that toy chest only appear to those that should see it, like quest related drops in a chest.</p>

<p>The chest is not showing up everytime for all characters on a 2nd + run. For instance I took my assasin and my main in to duo it for a 2nd time. My assasin saw the toy chest my main did not. <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" /> My wife had the same thing happen except we ran it over 6 times and one of her characters never saw it. The toy chest seems extremely buggy atm. I'm going in right now for a third run on my main and assasin and will update if anything change.</p><p>***Update*** This time my main saw the toy chest. Is it that random?</p>

Maybe you already have all the L&L quest you can get there.

<p>When you click on the books, you don't actually get the book in your inventory like normal. But if you don't already have that L&L, you get the quest pop-up on screen.</p><p>Unfortunately, there's no way to tell which book they are before clicking them. And if you already have it, you'll get no information at all.</p>

<p>The Lore and Legend quest starters are located on bookshelves and tabletops throughput the Somborn Haunted Mansion. <strong>They will not be clickable on your first visit to the mansion</strong> - only during subsequent quest runs. They are:</p><ul><li>Evil Eye</li><li>Ghost</li><li>Goblin</li><li>Skeleton</li><li>Werewolf</li><li>Zombie</li></ul><p>If you have any of these L&L quests in your quest journal already (completed or not), then when you click on the book it will simply disappear.</p><p>(If you haven't done one or more of these Lore and Legend quests, when you click on a book you'll be offered the appropriate quest without receiving and actual book.)</p>

<p>I went through a 4th time last night. I was given the quest again with the mirror as a reward again (I'm not complaining, they look cool in my house!). I did see the chest...again. I got the Bayle mask that time (I got the Lucan mask previously). I'm not sure why some people are able to go through and get quests/masks again (like me) and some are not. <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p>

<p>I thought the toy chest only appeared if you had NOT looted any of the books. I declilned the toy chest quest when I saw it because of that. Now I havent tried it again, but it sounds like I wont be able to get it. since it will be my third run. For lower toons I wanted to get the books and wasn't sure if you could get those after the toy chest.  And if only one person in the party can get the mask, and you are each on the 2nd run, that seems like a problem.</p>

<p>It's definitely not a given that the chest will appear on your second run-through.  I just finally got the chest for my warden.  She ran thru twice and got the mirror and head dealie, then two more times to help folks who were having trouble with the last monster.  The chest did not appear for her any of those times, and I know she got to the spot with the chest first.  On the fifth time she ran through, though, when she had just about given up hope of getting the mask and was just concentrating on extra mirrors, there it was! </p><p>The character did harvest a couple of books in there, and maybe that is why she couldn't see the chest.  I'll test that on my other characters who have had trouble seeing it.  Anyway, it seems that all you have to do is go back again and again, and the chest will eventually appear.</p>

<p>Took my Necro thru last night, three times in total. On the second time, I got the books I needed and my group member took the chest. The third time, none of the books were clickable, and the chest appeared only to me, not to my companion. And no additional quest items, just the quest for experience, with no rewards offered.</p>

<p>I read this on another post (that I can't locate now) that you can get the 2nd, etc, mirror on additional runs, BUT ONLY if you DO NOT have the first mirror in your inventory.</p><p>Which leads to the quest, can you get both masks, as long as you don't already have one (or the other) in your inventory? I would assume that the old version of the lore Antonica/Lucan masks would prevent getting a second mask of the same person. Maybe I need to put my mask in bank before I try quest again.</p><p>I've done quest twice w/ my hubby. Second time through, we both saw the L&L books, but I didn't click on any, as I need he needed the quests & I didn't. We both also saw the toy chest & he let me click it to get the Lucan mask. I took the circlete (mirror first time), but I don't know which he chose, or if he was able to get two mirrors (having placed the first mirror in his house)></p>

That makes sense about the mirror, though, I'll have to dump it into my house or the shared bank and try it again.</p>

<p>Harvesting the L and L books has nothing to do with whether or not the toy chest will appear.  I've harvested all those books on all my characters and I was able to get the toy chest on my 2nd run.  The spawning of the toy chest might get all borked if you are in a group?  I've soloed this zone with all my toons.</p>

<p>Well, I still haven't been able to successfully quest both masks with any of my characters. I'm beginning to think we're not really supposed to be able to get both.
