Okay, after playing for the 14 days given on trial, ive really come to enjoy the game and bought it.

So far my first character, at lvl 15, is an assassin and i also ahve a lvl 8 brigand. Assassin appealed to me the most due to being able to played as a dark elf and its playstyle fits quite well with what i like to do, also the aesthetics of the hoods look extremely awesome. After getting to level 15 i have to come to feel i am having a little trouble killing mobs solo. With my brigand, although he is a lower lvl, its is a lot easier and my intention if i continue to play him would have him betray to swashie. Before i choose which character to main [my playstyle is one where i like to focus on one toon] i have a few questions:

1. How is the solo pvp of a swashie compared to that of an assassin, in other words, what are the strengths and weaknesses, or things that are easy or hard of each class?

2. How does each class faire in solo play, as of right now i feel as though my brigand->swashie looks as though hes having an easier time?

3. Which class is more gear dependent?

4. Can a swashbuckler wear some of the assassins hoods or does he get any flashy cool armours himself [aesthetics are a big part of my decision ] and if so where can i view these armours on different character models?

I'm not a pvper, but I am still pretty familiar with the scout classes so I can probably offer you some help.

Assassins have the most stealth or positional requirements on their attacks. This makes their attacks the most damaging, but it also means that it's harder to pull them off while soloing. They solo content designed for a single player well enough, but it's hard for them to survive against a heroic (but it's possible).

Swashbucklers have the least stealth and positional attacks (one stealth attack and maybe 2 or 3 positionals). They have the most area of effect damage potential. They are strong soloers, especially against groups (once they get their aoe abilities)

Brigands have about 6 positional attacks, but only one stealth attack. They also get enough stuns to use all of their positional attacks against one target. They are strong soloers against single targets. This is the class I have the most experience in and I can solo equal level heroics as long as the timing goes right.

_________________________

Now if you're concerned about looks... The assassin is the only class that gets the cool face cover on their hat. Most of the gear for other slots can be worn by multiple classes, with only a few exceptions ( none of which are amazingly better looking than another ). There is a hood that drops around the upper 50's that other scouts can wear, but it doesn't have a face cover. There is a LoN loot card that allows a character to wear an 'unclassed class hat' which means th at one character could wear the class hat of any other class. So with this loot card any of your characters could get an assassin hood.

If you want to look at what gear looks like on your character, you can brows stuff on the broker and look at it in the dressing room (control click). You can resize the dressing room to make your character pretty big if you want to see it well. I would suggest you look for both legendary and fabled quality hats between levels 65 and 70 to get a look at some other class hats on the broker. They might not all be there, but some of them will.

There is also a website.... www.lootdb.com where you can search for armor and there is a line of text on each piece of gear that you can copy and paste in the game and it will make an actual link of the gear in game so you can look at it in the dressing room.

Brigand

2. Ranger

3. Swashbuckler

4. Assassin

Assassins dont really start to get insanely awesome in pvp until past level 55 when they get Concealment.

Once you get your really long delay weapons in endgame (80ish) you will see massive melee autoattack damage which is really impressive.

Assassin Mythical epic weapon does probably the most lethal melee damage in the entire game pvp and pve. It rips things to shreds, and a VERY skilled assassin can kill an entire group with his mythical weapon.

Now, compare that to brigands and swashies who can kill lots of people with relative ease....

Assassins are hard to play, but if played VERY skillfully, can be the most deadly and feared. (it takes alot of time and effort to learn how to play an assassin masterfully, but once done, you are unmatched.)

Brigands are easy to play, and pretty darn strong. Swashies are also very easy, but not as strong as brigands.

Rangers are like assassins from long range, but without the melee capability. If you like to snipe people from far away, go ranger. Get up close and rip things up, go assassin. Easymode, pick swashy or brigand.

Brigand is probably the best class to learn the game on, since its the most forgiving in pvp and pve. That or Swashy.

I don't really agree that assassin is a complicated class to play.

Agreed, in PvP Assns require more skill than the above mentioned classes, if you don't know what you're doing you'll be eating dirt.

I'm a pvp assassin and a raid assassin. Now this is my feel on it. My assassin is able to do many things in the game solo, including PvP, but if you PvP solo you have to pick your targets well. You can't run into a group and start killing.

Playing an assassin solo takes a bit of understanding of your equipment, AA's and skills. You will have to do a lot more thinking than some classes if you solo a lot. (If you don't want to think and just smash buttons and kill, this is not the class for for you.)

Assassins in my opinion are extreamly fun compared to other classes, you can put out tons of damage, and get away quickly if speced out right.

I would suggest playing around with it more, but you really won't get a full feel of what an assassin can do till you get above 50, then you won't see the true potential till your 70's. Once there figure out your AA's and equipment and I'm sure you'll enjoy an assassin.
