What I mean is, can I edit my eq2_keymap_EQ game file so that my F1-F10 keys can do pet commands?Example:F1 instead of being target self/target pet, I want it to be Pet Attack  etcThanks

You can remap most keyboard commands through the Options window (Alt-O ... unless you've remapped it).

Yes, I have looked at that, but I can't find the settings for "Pet attack" nor can i find a place where i can customize what the button does.what I mean is, i can find where i can change the button to open my "voice chat" window, but i can't find a place to make the "V" key cast a specific spell of my choosing.Theoretically i could go into the eq2_Keyboard file find the F1 key, chang it from "target self" and make it "use ability pet attack" or what ever the command actually is.I'm just curious if this is allowed. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

You can edit those files, but the patcher will overwrite them. What you want to do is create new ones. Go into the Keyboards directory, copy the file you want to start with to another name, say eq2_keymap_mine.ini. Edit that file to suit. Then go up and down to the Layouts folder. Copy the EQ2_Default.cfg to EQ2_Mine.cfg. Open EQ2_Mine.cfg in Notepad and edit it a bit. Change the name= line to the name you want, say "My personal keyboard". Change the keymaps= line to say eq2_keymap_mine.ini. Save it. Now when you run the game, at the bottom of the options window where the keymap pull-down is you should have a new entry "My personal keyboard". When you select it, it'll load your eq2_keymap_mine.ini file instead of the SOE-provided ones. And since your keymap file isn't a standard one, the patcher won't overwrite it.

The keymap .ini file only assigns individual keys to game-defined actions, it doesn't allow for arbitrary commands or macros. The only way to do what you want is to create a macro (in the socials window) and assign it to a hotbar button, or to use a programmable keyboard (eg. the Logitech G15) and assign the command strings you want to the programmable keys.
