<p>when i log on one of my toons i get this meassage.</p><p>"Nagafen_Buttonman_eq2_uisettings.ini" could not be written to, your ui settings cannot be saved.</p><p>i thought i could just close it and go on my way but it just pops right back up. anyone seen this before or know why its doing this"</p>

<cite>oddball820 wrote:</cite><blockquote><p>when i log on one of my toons i get this meassage.</p><p>"Nagafen_Buttonman_eq2_uisettings.ini" could not be written to, your ui settings cannot be saved.</p><p>i thought i could just close it and go on my way but it just pops right back up. anyone seen this before or know why its doing this"</p></blockquote><p>It's possible the file is locked in an open state however there is something you can try:</p><ol><li>Exit EQ2</li><li>Browse to your EQ2 installation folder</li><li>Open the .ini file in Notepad (see below if you get an error here)</li><li>Select the entire contents (CTRL+A) and copy it (CTRL+C)</li><li>Close the .ini file and delete it</li><li>Create a new text file (naming it the same as your .ini file and with .ini instead of .txt)</li><li>Open the new file and paste (CTRL+V) the information from your original</li><li>Run EQ2 and see if the error occurrs</li></ol><p>If you can't open the file and get an error that the file is in use, you will need to boot Windows intosafe mode. There shouldn't be anything with open file handles regarding EQ2 when you're in safe mode(unless your anti-virus auto protect is interfering, in which case temproarily disable it)If the error still persists then it's possible the file has somehow become corrupt (maybe the disk sectorit is on went bad) and you'll simply have to rename it and let EQ2 make a new one. Unfortunately you'lllose your ui setup and will need to arrange your windows again.</p>
