Giraku

The sea breeze blew up over the shores of Gorowyn beach, its salty smell tingled Giraku's nose as he climbed the stairs to the Green Overlook. His recent battles against the Blackshields pirates on the beach had come as a success, and now he had been asked to report to Standard Ku'Uul. This green armor glistened in the sunlight as he found his way up the small slope, which had created a small windy valley for the sea wind. He loved the smell of the sea and the feel of the wet salty breeze the accompanied the soft sound of crashing waves. When he arrived Standard Ku'Uul was waiting.

"Good you've arrived." He Sarnak said in a gruff gravely voice. "I was sent here to combat the invasion of the Blackshields though I don't know why I'm needed; there attack was so disjointed it was almost laughable. Though we still have our jobs to do. So here's what is been going on. You see to the far west the pirates have set up a strong encampment within a small cove, and above that cove lies yet another encampment. The commanding officer of these encampments is Captain Redspit, he is your target." He turned and looking to the west over the hill. "You see these fools may not know how to plan an invasion, but they do know how to keep there higher-ups safe. Redspit uses a griffin known as Blackfeather, to fly to there ship and back to his cave, what we need is Blackfeather's reigns."

Giraku blinked listening. "So that we can fly to the ship?"

"Right."

"Alright so is Redspit holding the reigns on his person?" Giraku asked

"Not as far as we know. Our current intelligence tells us that the good Captain keeps the reigns in a lock box in his cave, and that he keeps the key to this box on his person at all times." Standard Ku'Uul Replied.

"I understand. "

"Good, " Standard Ku'Uul almost laughed. " I wonder if they will become more aggressive when the pirates choose a new leader. At any rate, get moving soldier."

"Yes sir!" With a quick salute Giraku turned to the west and started up the overlook. Giraku, was a holy knight by definition, fighting in Karana's name, however he used dark magic's taught by the sarnak. He kept this a secret from the rest of the standard, who were simply warriors, and not knights in anyway, neither holy nor unholy.

As he crossed the green sprawling hill side, he spied many chokidai wandering around he did his best to avoid the scaled beasts, all of his strength, he figured, would be needed to take down this pirate captain. As he crested the top of the hill a large camp came into view to his right. All around it trolls, ogres, ratonga, humans, and several other races stood around drinking, sharpening there blades, playing cards and generally enjoying them selves. However Giraku noted, there were sentries posted around and a few who were patrolling the area, and just above him sat the cave. He had just turned to go to it when he heard a commotion in the camp, whirling around he found three of the patrolling guards were charging at him.

He lept back quickly drawing the blade from his back he awaited the three pirates holding his ground. The pirates all seemed to wear similar armor, a black leather tunic with blue etchings, each wore a patch on there should, a symbol of rank he surmised. Two of the pirates one with a long sword the other with a spear darted to the sides, as an ogre who bore a massive claymore rushed at him directly.

"Clever," Giraku muttered, as he concentrated on the approaching ogre he felt a sharp object graze his flank. His head turned to see the spear-man swinging from a range. The spear came at him again and Giraku jumped backwards. He saw behind him the gleam from steel and realized that was doing just what the pirates had planned. Thinking quickly he ducked into a small roll to the side causing the Pirate with the long sword's strike to miss completely. The ogre meanwhile was upon him raising his claymore high above his head ready to being it down upon the crouching Sarnak's head. Giraku swung his blade severing the ogre from his foot. With a bellow of pain the monstrous pirate fell back hoping on his one foot. Giraku jumped at it arching his blade from below his right leg to the heft near his head, the slash was the last thing the ogre ever saw.

What was left of the pirate slumped to the ground, the remaining two looked stunned, but realizing what has just occurred they began the assault again. The spear-men feigned to the left, and struck. Giraku swung his blade like a pendulum and smashed the shaft of the spear. The pirate gazed at the remains of his ruined weapon, me shouted something that Giraku did not understand, but assumed was a curse of some sort, and charged headlong at him attempting to use the remains of his spear as a club.

With a quick twist of his tail he tripped up the pirate and as he fell Giraku's blade came to promptly strike him Giraku continued to raise the blade throwing the humans corpse off to the side. The last swordsman looked over Giraku and sized up his chances. With a loud bellow the last human called to his companions in the camp, Giraku gasped as he saw a small army of pirates and cutthroats come running. The encircled him giving Giraku no option but to fight them all.

"Look at the lil'lizard!" One taunted

"Aye we can turn him into a few fine pairs of boots!" Another added in.

Giraku charged at the human who had brought this to him, swinging his blade down to cleave the man's skull. A Claymore swung up and countered the blow holding it off.

"What the...!" Giraku exclaimed, an ogre had acted to save his comrade.

"Attack!" One shouted swinging his blade. Giraku fell backward and arced his blade up disemboweling the fool. Near 2 dozen men and women stood around him there weapons ready.

"He can't take us all!!!" Shouted the ogre who had deflected him before. He and three others swung there blades at him in simultaneous fury. Giraku crouched he felt instinct take over as his leg muscles tightened. He sprung up ward over the crowd of pirates to the open grass. His blade swung below him slicing the skulls of 4 pirates apart.

He landed with a thump and crouched low. The entire crowd turned to face him.

"That lizard is a monster!" One cried, and truly he appeared to be one. Giraku stayed crouched on his haunches, his blade in a defensive position ready to strike. His yellow eyes gleaming glaring at his would be killers, the blood of those he'd slain dripped from his blade. His sharp draconic teeth gleamed in the afternoon light.

He surged forward, Giraku slashed wildly at the crowd. The pirates went wild, they attacked relentlessly all charging at once. One vs. roughly twenty, Giraku seemed destined to fail in this battle. Giraku ducked and weaved barely dodging swing blades. Some blows were landed causing a few small cuts through his scales and armor but most were unable to pierce him. He slashed and eliminated each pirate one by one ending them. The battle raged on for near an hour each falling to Giraku's blade. Finally the last one fell, Giraku stood valiantly the victor of a small war That he shouldn't of won.

His eyes turned to the cave, He moved as fast as his body would allow. He was tired battered and bruised but it was time to finish his mission. He peered into the cave and saw no more pirates within. However on a ledge high above the cave floor stood the captain.

"Ahhh, so this is the mighty knight whose slain a better part of my forces!" Called Redspit from his perch. " You my friend have caused me a lot of trouble." He turned slowly talking with his hands as well to accentuate what he said. "You know, you could make a fine Blackshield, maybe even the best. Why not join me and together...This entire island, as well as the rest of them. Could be all ours!" He declared clenching his red leather gloved hand into a fist, out before him. "What do you say my friend? Will you take up this call to rule with the power of the Blackshields?!"

Giraku took a deep breath watching the Captain pace upon his perch as he delivered his speech. "Are you finished talking human?" He asked obviously uncaring for the man's offer.

"I offer you such a generous offer and you refuse? Fool. You've just sealed your fate!" Captain Redspit jumped from his perch landing soundly in a crouch Drawing the blade from his back he charged forward. Giraku brought his blade down to clash against the captain rising slash. The captains blade struck the ground with a clang, Redspit turned and ran backwards in the cave dragging his blade causing a trail of sparks. Giraku blinked blinded temporarily by the sparks. Redspit threw a small dagger at the far wall causing the blinded Giraku to turn towards the sound. He gasped as he felt the impact of Redspit's blade against his back.

"Darn it..." Giraku muttered as he regained his footing and whirled his blade around to find Redspit's blade waiting to block. Giraku blinked away what was left of his blindness away and took a swing to the left. Redspit countered but to his surprise Giraku had counted on it, and had aimed the strike to pivot himself from the edge of the captain's blade. Swinging himself behind the captain he swung one high final swing.

Redspit uttered one last cry of surprise, and fell to the stone. After quickly locating the key to Blackfeather's reigns he hurried up to the ledge and found them. With the pirates mostly wiped out, returning to Standard Ku'Uul was an easy task.

"Alright. Now it is time, to finish them off. Take Blackfeather and fly to Captain Boil's ship, then...eliminate him." He said showing near no emotion.

"Yes Sir!" Giraku replied. The wound on his back hadnt been too bad to after a quick bandaging he was ready to end the Blackshield attacks. So With his sword in hand he hurried to Blackfeather's hitching post near where Redspit's cave had been. Once the griffin was unlatched it took flight and headed offshore towards a large wooden vessel.

His landing was far less than pleasant as he jumped form the back of Blackfeather and smacked on the deck with a heavy thud. A crewman nearby heard it and came running. Giraku looked at the man who had now drawn his blade and hefted it above his head. He slashed his talons at the man scratching his face. The man grabbed at his new cuts in his agony stumbled over the side of the ship and splashed in the water below.

Giraku jumped to his feet, looking around he spotted captain boil speaking to his helmsman. "Boil!" He shouted. The large man turned and looked down at him as one might look down on a mangy animal.

"What have we here, one of the filthy slimes from the island?" He laughed.

"No, I am the deliverer of your death. You've done far to much to this island and we will not allow you to do anymore." Giraku replied valiantly.

"And just what will you do to stop me? Come up here and kill me? I think not, after all the below decks are crawling with my men."

"Boil." Giraku asked closing his eyes calmly. " Did you know that my kind are part dragon?"

"Oh? And just why should I be care'in what your race is ?"

" Because if you were a smart man You would've run long ago...and thats because...You never tempt a dragon! " Giraku shouted opening his eyes. They glowed a dark blood red, his features went ridged, his dragon blood burning in his veins. "Now! Feels the wrath of the Sarnak!!!" He opened his mouth and a stream of flame spewed forth enveloping the deck.

"what in the...Crew everyone get above deck now kill the thing!" Boil cried.

Giraku continued to let loose the fire searing everything upon hearing Boil's command he turned and covered the door to the lower deck in fire he finally stopped and saw the fire was spreading covering all of the ship. He strode up to where boil now cowered, watching as his helmsman jumped form the inferno.

" You see Boil...."Giraku said in cool tones. " You never attack a a dragon, and you never attack the sarnak." He glared down at the round human.

Boil only watching in terror as Graku called Blackfeather back to him he jumped up and onto its back and flew off. The last thing Boil would remember before his fate of falling through the deck to the burning lower decks was Giraku standing over him, Glaring down on him. Truly a dragon of a new era, a beast in battle, and one who would crush all who dared to harm those he cared for.
