I've been playing up a monk alt and having a blast with it.  I recently hit level 72 and had a full set of MC armor ready and the upgrade from 62 was very nice.  One thing I've yet to be able to find a good write up on is the value of haste items versus items with better stats.  I've seen plenty of information on which haste sources stack and such but nothing on just plain how useful haste is.  Obviously I could just experiment and use something like ACT to compare DPS output but I'm wondering if anyone has either put thought and discussion into haste versus the value of stats on items.<div></div><div>Case in point, at level 72 I'm still using my Flowing Black Silk Sash for the haste on it.  I could certainly get better stats on level appropriate gear but I don't have any comparable haste items to replace my FBSS yet.  (I know better is out there, I just haven't been fortunate enough to get one as a drop yet).</div><div></div><div>While DPS comparisons would give me a direct comparisson over whether or not FBSS or a stat item I have on hand is better for DPS output it doesn't really provide the general guideline I'm looking for.  For example I wouldn't know generally speaking if it's worth spending the time in groups grinding the same name over and over to get some specific stat or haste item drop.  It's better to know if there's a loose guideline to help determine if that'd be a waste of time or not before I start.  Guidance would be appreciated please.</div>

There's a distinction between your Haste Modifier and your Haste Percentage. The number in the persona window is your Haste Modifier, but if you hover over the number, you can see your Haste Percentage.<div></div><div>Monks are blessed with a lot of haste buffs (Offensive Stance, group buff, and self-DoT haste). And haste is subject to diminishing returns. So in deciding between whether or not to drop the FBSS, I would first take it off, fully buff yourself like you normally play, hover over your haste mod to see the percentage. Then put it back on and check the percentage. The difference is how much actual haste percentage the FBSS adds. Try this in your group setup and in your solo setup.</div><div></div><div>If you're DPS in a group (and fully self haste-buffed), I can't imagine the FBSS adding enough haste to be worth using over other gear. But if you're in defensive and not self-DoT hasted, then the diminishing returns is not so bad, and it's just a judgement call as to whether you'd rather have a 10%+ increase in your auto-attack dps or more health/power/resists. With as hard as RoK mobs hit though, I'd probably rather have the t8 gear with no haste, but that's my opinion.</div>
