View Full Version : AA goals for each level?

Innuendo

I've been reading a lot about balancing AA and experience in order to have a well rounded character at higher levels. Currently, my templar is level 14 and has 8 AA points, all of which I've shoved into the smite tree. Though I am sure there are no concrete guidelines, how much AA I should aim for at certain level marks (i.e. 20, 30, 40, et al.)?
Before betraying, I read somewhere in the inquisitor forum that they should aim for 1.5 AA per level. Then, I also read that they should turn adventure XP off from levels 10-20 (though I imagine a better idea would be to balance incoming adventure XP with incoming AA XP with quests available at each level). Do these things hold true for templars?

There is no balance issue. 140 possible AA (well this week anyway), 80 levels - so you can see whey people are saying 1.5 AA / level to aim for.You want as much AA as possible, as early as possible.1) Currently between 130-140aa the rate slows down a lot. Even with all xp being converted to AA at level 80, there are only so many quests before you have to start retracing to old content and grey areas.2) The sooner you get AA, the more powerful your character is, this isn't just an issue for 80 and raiding, but makes levelling easier and less painful too.3) Levelling via quests gives AA, and is more interesting and generally faster than mindless killing4) In another week or 3, there will be 200aaBetween level 70 and 80 in RoK, SoE made the plain incompetent decison to reduce drastically the amount of xp you get for dungeon crawling. They have eased back from this stupidity somewhat, but its too late now as most of the servers are 80 so groups will be harder to find.(How many subscriptions they lost due to forcing people to play an ORPG instead of a MMORPG we can only guess at)There are also quest lines that give faction, that you will probably want to do, to make RoK easier and to obtain some gear that they through into the expansion late on faction merchants, as some idiot thought templars has no issue wearing leather. This is possibly not an issuue if you are focused more on the coming expansionSo what this amounts to, is you will be forced to level by questing between 70 to 80, and will pick up a lot of AA points then - 50 or so? But with another 60 coming into the system shortly, I'd be more focused than ever on getting every single AA point you can while levelling. If you are following a quest path and find the mobs getting too low, then I guess turning off xp is an option. More an issue for PvP servers I think, But trying to find 20+ AA points at level 80 in RoK will not be fun, as I doubt the expansion will be designed to give more than the 60 they are adding, at best!About which trees to put points into while levelling - Templar DPS is low, so anything that updates damage is good I'd suggest looking at the cleric tree more. Soling with a decent 2 hander you can rely on melee for dps and use power more for heals. With AA mirrors you can have a solo spec which is completely different from your group/raid one.
