I tried the Chat with your guild feature on Eq2players.comWell, sadly it did not work and I cannot figure out what's wrong with it.This is what it says when I try to connect to it: ::Fatal Error::Can't connect to server (possible proxy / NAT/ network error)Any ideas?

What browser are you using? I am able to use guild chat in both IE7 and FF3, although I did need to clean up my temp files and cookies before it worked.

I am also having the same problem. I use IE7, and I have tried it on a couple of computers, as well as installing firefox and trying that. I do not use any proxy, and have tried clearing my files and cookies

Still broken after the Maintenance... what you'd do, paint 'em?External Chat server doesn't seem to be connected to the player database to retrieve characterNames. Port 5222 authentication is working just fine with the secure session ID, but no character list returned. No character, no join guildchat channel... no good.I can provide XMPP debug logs if that'd help any.

There are numerous threads about this. It's been broken for weeks, if not months. It's been tried with different browsers with different operating systems on different computers using different ISPs from different countries but still Sony doesn't even acknowledge that there's a problem, let alone say anything about fixing it.

It's kind of intermittent for me. About a year ago I had been unable to use the service for 18 months when a new SOE rep came in and sorted it. I think it tends to be a EU server thing or even maybe EU IP addresses. Whatever, because the bulk of the US players weren't experiencing the problem it never received too much attention by SOE. One day we will all be treated equally.....today however is not that day.

Hey all, I am on the butcherblock server along with Miss Zemi(Its Enola Zem /nudge nudge), I have been having an ongoing conversation with TSR, after, CSR, after some Ltuttle person, and have still gotten no reply on what the issue is or how long it will take to get fixed. My husband started a post under the Tech support tittled Chatting with your guild from Station players not working. I had received an email today saying that i am getting a refund.....how much? how long? what its for?? I have no clue [Removed for Content], so now I guess I will wait another 3 weeks to find out exactly what my refund is for. I do have to say that this Ltuttle person is not the person to talk to about getting refunds....evidently they dont feel that it is important, why you ask??? well lets just see.....hhmmm people will look at it as well its only $2.99 a month its not alot of money, so we dont bother letting anyone know that there is a problem, add that up people....3 months, 6 months, a year???? How long has it not worked for you??? My husband started having the problem about 6 months ago, I started having it a few months ago, getting fatal error disconnected, no big deal really cause after mashing the retry button a few times it finally let me in. But since the maintenance on Oct 16,2008 (Yes sony you are dealing with someone who actually keeps track of this sort of thing) I have not been able to get in at all, and like everyone else I have cleared cookies, caches, temp files, the 9 yards, I have IE AND firefox, i actually got different errors, but still no luck in getting on.

Look Sony I am not trying to get people to gang up on you but you know what??? If it wasnt for all of us paying the monthly subscriptions and buying the expansions, none of you would have a job right now. I am not one that says the customers always right, no one is perfect but for crying outloud, alittle acknowledge would be nice, we are paying customers regardless of how much or how little the amount is. And just to quote TSR Daniel from my other post:

If you're getting that specific error then you'll want to try bypassing your router temporarily. The NAT error you're receiving is common when the router has a blocked port.

I would not advise contacting the [email protected] e-mail for this type of issue, though. He handles refunds outside of the standard policy and doesn't usualy deal with this type of problem. I talked with Jeremiah and I think he was just confused about what you were asking for. Please PM me your station name and I'll get that taken care of for you so you don't have to worry about it. Make sure the topic of your PM lets me know which issue you're referring to since I get quite a few.

For anyone else having this problem, I would advise calling the support line or submitting a standard support ticket. Mr Tuttle isn't supposed to handle cases like this and e-mailing him will cause the process to drag out longer than necessary.

Thanks for listening everyone, I hope this might help some or at least open the eyes of Sony....I am not afraid to call people out.

Latest update from Sony: his was from your contact with one of our CSR's on the forums about problems with Station Players. he was under the impression that you no longer wished to have this on your account due to problems with it. I gave you a refund for the most recent month of station players on the account. If this was in error please let me know and we will leave the features on your account and it will bill you normally next month, otherwise the features have been removed to keep you from getting billed further for it.Thank you for contacting Sony Online Entertainment. Take care and have a nice day!

FINE give me a refund and cancel my station chat LOL....I would say let me know when it is fixed but we all know how that will turn out [Removed for Content]

I believe that much of the problem is caused by any flash player upgrade from Adobe that is past v5 all of the newer ones use added layers of security to play videos from Youtube and what not. I believe it is this security that is causing the proxy error. I ran into the same problem: I could use it on a system that ran a very old version of flash but not a newer version. when that little pop up came up saying upgrade available I inadvertantly clicked it and as soon as it was done I wasn't able to chat anymore.

Hope that helps point the SOE team in the right direction. I believe they would need to recode it to utilize these new security functions.

In the meantime I have an old Pentium 3 sitting beside me at work that has old flash on it so I can once again chat with my guild

Cheers!

SoE has been collectiong anywhere from $0.99 to $3.00 from many individuals (impossible to estimate, but I'd guess thousands) for features that do not work. These features have not worked properly or consistently since the game was launched. They are aware that they do not work, and they have not made an effort to resolve the problem.
Out of curiosity I checked yesterday and my item discoveries from the TSO live release are already listed. I expect that party is automated (and should be) and still working.

I'm really hoping here that with TSO released maybe soon, after the post release crash and fix frenzy, someone will look into actually fixing the EQ2 Players site. For all I know though it's an entirely separate team. Anyone know?

Sure, I'm hoping it gets fixed but I'm not holding my breath. I'm ready to cancel the add-on service... again. I keep coming back because it is useful (when it actually works) but I haven't seen anything about reimbursals for, what, a month of down time now? Longer for some apparently. I don't think I should have to pay for a service that isn't supported, doesn't work, and I definitely don't think I should be the one responsible for putting in for a reimbursal when it's not only broken but is known to be broken and is being looked at.

If it were me, I'd be asking whoever was in charge how much their job meant to them. There are certainly ample numbers of qualified people who could manage the technical side of the service better. Look at any college supporting computer science courses and you're likely to find someone who'd jump at the opportunity for very little pay if not as a volunteer position just to say they were the ones doing it.

Some would say that it's no big deal, it's only a couple dollars a month, who cares?

Well I say I do care. I cannot maintain contact with at least 50% of my guild, and other guild leaders, when I work during peak play times, and this service has been down for far too long. Sure it's only a couple bucks a month. But you compound that couple bucks a month with however many hundreds of players who subscribe to it and guess what, SOE is making a killing getting paid for intermittent, broken service.

If you are offering services that people pay extra money for, there should be a team assigned to make [Removed for Content] sure those services are working. This includes making sure people are checking the /bugs and /petitions and /feedback, and checking the forums at least on a weekly basis.

So basically you are getting paid all this extra money for services you refuse to provide. This is wrong. And just telling us "yes we're aware of the problem", is not sufficient enough customer service to account for getting paid for nothing. Nor is not communicating one bit with the EQ2 community where these issues stand, except for one poor guy from a whole different department having to answer for another department's incompetence.

The bottom line is your paying customers are very dissatisfied, and you seem wholly unconcerned with the matter.

Honestly, of all the times I've tried to use the chat feature on the website... it's worked maybe once or twice. That's it. And even for those times I had to try to reconnect at least a dozen times before it finally connected and loaded up.

Why is this a feature we have to pay to use when it never works? I mean seriously... In all the years this thing has been around I've heard nothing but complaints about how it's broken, and have experienced the same.

I've tried cleaning my temp files, I've tried cleaning my cookies, and I've tried cleaning my cache, and I've tried all of those things in both IE and FF3 (though it was the same for previous versions of FF too). It doesn't make a difference. There's clearly something wrong and it'd be nice if it could actually get fixed at long last.

Hell I've even tried to use it on a Mac laptop with three different browsers, safari, IE and FF, and still it doesn't work. That's not just a browser issue.

FYI, the external chat server is working for my purposes again... for the first time in two months. Whoever changed something, write down what it was you changed. Note: This is not the web based connection, this is a 3rd party jabber client that (now) connects just fine. Same configuration as when it used to work before.

I hope the rest of you are having as good a luck as I am atm. Happy thanksgiving!!!

After half a dozen "202's" I actually logged into chat!!

It's still a bit buggy as it appeared only literally guild chat seemed to be working..../tells seemed to get bounced back with more 202 error messages.

Maybe it's just a question of server load, what with it being Thanksgiving and all?

Took about 8 login attempts but it actually connected!!!

I'm curious to hear if someone actually "fixed" something or if this is some random happenstance and no one knowingly made any chances. I'm rather hoping it's an intentional fix and one we can in some small way hope will reliably remain fixed.

The Station Friends chat isn't bad but being able to reach my whole guild all at once is much more useful to me most of the time.

I am not sure but I think the issue might be related to the new flash player (10). A week ago I still had it working on this machine (after retrying the 202 a few times) but after an update to flash 10 I get a 303 proxy/LAN error.

On the subject of it being low priority, I really think that is not even relevant. It's a feature that people have to pay for to use. So either it needs to get fixed or it should not be a paid feature.

Yea I'm having the Error 303 issue also, I thought it might be the network at my job, the head IT guy is a good friend so I had him bypass my IP through any port blocks and got the same error. I came home tried my ISP connection, same thing, error 303 NAT/Firewall, so I set my router to just be one big open connection no ports being blocked, and got the same error.

Funny thing is I just signed up for station again today because I thought everything was working, seeing as my character profile was updating properly, just so I could use guild chat while at work...

Question is, what port is the chat client trying to access? Maybe I can configure my home network to accept it, though I don't see what good it will do since I've literally made my router a hub with no firewall.

The guild chat use to work with the mac web browser "Safari" just fine, even when IE7, IE8 Beta and Firefox would give me a NAT error. Now guild chat gives the same error on all my browsers. I have tried this on mutliple networks at work and around the city on my vista laptop, as well as at home on my XP pro desktop. I don't use the chat feature all the time, but when I do its nice if it works.
