Innuendo

Hi all,
I'm fairly new to EQ2. After leveling an Illusionist to 16 and realizing it wasn't the right class choice for me, I started an inquisitor that I then betrayed to templar (mostly because it seemed like it would be a fun experience to betray rather than starting over with a templar). I finished my betrayal last night and am sitting with a level 14 templar.

I've played healers in other games (my primary characters were a priest in WoW and a minstrel in LOTRO both which I leveled in healing specs) and the slow killing doesn't bother me. I've also level capped non-healing characters (a feral druid and elemental shaman in WoW). When starting EQ2, I didn't think I'd want to play a healer. Then I remembered that healers generally don't have a hard time finding groups, healers take an active role in controlling the pace of the fights, healers are generally appreciated, I don't enjoy leveling classes where I can't heal myself in-combat, and well more than any of that, healing is fun.

Okay so, now I'm undecided on whether to stick with my templar or level a different class. The inquisitor was fun through level 14, but I was playing it more as a casting mage and only auto-attacked melee. I don't mind beating things with a club, but I enjoy seeing spell animation, crits, and bright colors >.>. I can't defend why I enjoy it, but I like sticking stats into intellect and wisdom over strength. It's fun. I also really really don't like parries...So, I read up on inquisitors, spec'd battle cleric -- because apparently that's the "way to go" -- and after my spell casts became melee strikes, I felt the fun suddenly sucked from the class. I also would go oop quicker...strange stuff. During my reading on inquisitors I read a bit about their positions in raiding and groups, the reasons to bring them along, and how their healing abilities are viewed by the public at large. These posts made me decide I may be better suited as a templar.

So I want to play a healing character. But I want one that can solo heal small dungeon groups excellently, and that will play a primary healing role in raids. I want a class that is desired for groups and raids and is known to heal well. Secondly, I want a class that can solo well -- even if slow -- and rather easily so long as a person takes the time to learn the ins and outs of their class and what it's capable of. Lastly, I want a class that's not over played (I've read that wardens and furys are), so I'll have a chance at spending my time in game with good groups and finding a decent raiding group or guild.

How do you all feel that templars fit this category?

Thanks in advance for your responses. =)
