View Full Version : Game does not work

I've been trying to play this game and it just doesn't work. The framerate skips constantly even with the graphics toned down. Every battle is an arduous task as I have to keep hitting the left mouse button to keep fighting. There are lots of error reports I have to send during play. And the only way to get out of the game is to cold boot my computer. I don't know what's wrong, but it is almost unplayable now.

World of Warcraft seems to work very well on my computer though. I don't know what's wrong here.

WoW's system requirements are basement level, while EQ2's are more than significantly higher.Post your system specs

As already mentioned, WoW can run on low end systems as well... This game needs more...Try running the scan at www.systemrequirementslab.com against Kingdom of Sky.... see if your system can run it and if you should upgrade certain items to have a better play experience. You can also try to play with the display settings a bit as well...The Complete Guide to Display Settings OptionsBoost performance and reduce stuttering guide! Also, be sure that you have set up your router/firewall to allow EQ2 through....[EQ2] Firewall and Proxy Information for EverQuest IIGood luck!

That is not quite what a Dxdiag... But if what you wrote about the system ram being 510 is true, that may be an issue with it...Did you try that system scan that I mentioned to see if your system can play this game?[EQ2] System Requirements for EverQuest IIAlso, to see what info can help others to help you.... Look at *** Read before posting *** for ideas on what info to post and how to get it.I am not that good with these things... I am unlable to find a specific date on that graphics driver version other then 2006. If that is the case, then perhaps updating the drivers may help.... again, need more info to be able to help more.

All of that info is from that system scan site.

I think your main issue is probably the lack of RAM, you really need at least 1GB to run (I run fine with 2GB on a machine that has slightly better CPU than yours (the 3600+)), at 512MB it will really struggle.

EQ2 is very RAM hungry and CPU hungry too.

Firecloud wrote:
All of that info is from that system scan site.
Can you pls post your DX diag as mentioned earlier? Did you look at the top of the screen when you went to www.systemrequirementslab.com to see if your PC passed? There should be a small graph with a bar on it to show what is minimum, your PC, recommended and what is Maximun playablilty. That site will also give recommendations on what you need to play the game better. If it does pass, then take a look at the links that I gave to your earlier to boosy your performance.... Be sure that all drivers ae up to date.

I have to agree with the others that your problem lies with the RAM. You are just barely below the minimum requirements posted below:Required SpecsPentium III - 1 GHz
• 512M RAM • Windows 2000/XP • 64M DirectX 9 compatible video card (Pixel/Vertex shader) • DirectSound Compatible Audio hardware • 56K internet connection •16x DVD-ROM •10 GB HD space DirectX 9.0c

Keep in mind that those are the requirements to boot the game up without a crash. You will generally have slow performance if you tried to run the program with the required specs.

The good news? RAM is very cheap these days.

For what it's worth, my wife's system was very similar to yours but had 1GB of Ram. It ran fairly well with Windows 2000. When we upgraded to XP, it was using almost 300MB of Ram from the virtual memory pool. The lag was massive, zoning was dreadful, and she crashed to desktop about every hour.We spent under $20 upgrading the Ram to 1.5GB and now she has very little lag, normal zoning times, and hasn't crashed in the last few days.

What's a DXdiag? I don't know much about computers.

Where do you buy additional RAM?

You can get a DXDIAG report by looking at this link.http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=353617RAM can be purchased at any computer store generally.

I have no idea where this dxdiag.txt file is. I can't find it.

I don't have the money for a RAM expansion. This has proven to be very complicated just to try to play a free demo.

From that link that was given by the TSR... Just pay attention to where you save the file. I usually go for the desktop for easy access. Note: These steps are for Windows 2000 and XP. Steps to generate this information for Windows Vista, 98, and ME are below.
To create your DirectX Diagnostic (DXDIAG) information:

1. Click on the START menu, select RUN and type in DXDIAG and select OK. 2. When the DirectX Diagnostic tool opens, click on the SAVE ALL INFORMATION button on the lower right, next to the EXIT button. 3. Save the DxDiag.txt to your desktop or other easily found location. 4. Copy and paste the contents to your thread.
