I'm currently a 30 brigand.  I've been trying to do the few quests left in BB which are currently yellow before I move onto zek or EL.  But I am still wearing the armor quest armor.  I went on the broker looking for chain to replace it, and the stats didn't seem all that much better.  I wasn't looking at master crafted or anything....I don't think I can afford it.  I just feel like even by blues sometimes, I'm just getting beat up on.  I saw some leather armor on the broker that had better stats, but the mitigation seemed a lot less.  But these pieces also gave + to CAs, which may help me kill the mob faster.  Can anyone give me advice for this tier?  Is it better to get leather or chain?  A side note, I am mostly solo.ThanksDivaun D'Veldrin30 Brigand

Harvest..Absolutly everything you can get your hands on.... and do it for a week while grinding quests in open terrian. The more you harvest, the more cash you will have.Sell the harvests and use the cash to buy the gear. You will have plenty after 1 week of playtime. You should do this until your 80.

Ya, I have been getting my harvesting skills up and selling a few rares.  Money isn't a big concern.  While I'm not trying to twink myself or anything.  My question is more as to what is good gear for this tier.  Particularly leather vs chain.  And if anyone knows of any particularly good pieces I can quest or buy.  I saw on eq2 wikia that there are a few decent looking armor quests in zek, I might start there.

Well, initially you mention that you didn't check the mastercrafted (MC) stuff because you didn't think you could afford it.Then later, you mention that money isn't a big concern.I've got a 35 Brigand. I started him over in Timorous Deep, because I knew the quested stuff would last me until at least 22. At level 22, I replaced about 2/3 of my gear with the level 22 MC stuff. At level 32, I made sure *all* of my armor was level 32 MC chain, with STR, AGI, and STA. I kept the +9STA Legendary quest reward cloak from Timorous Deep, and I had looted some treasured waist slot item that was decent enough to replace the +1 power regen quest belt from Tim. Deep. I bought all 32 MC jewelry, and 32 MC weapons (though I now also am playing around with the quest reward Polished Granit Tomahawk). My hex doll were new at 30, and MC also - the other charm slot holds a Legendary quest reward charm from Butcherblock. Don't forget to upgrade your ranged item, as well as the ammo, too.If you can scrape up enough coin to do all of this, you will see a nice boost in overall stats, resist, HP, Power, and survivability, for sure.If you mostly solo, like I do, you will appreciate the extra mitigation of the chain vs the leather. Also, get into the habit of doing broker searches for Legendary and even Fabled gear, from about level 25 to about level 35. You've got 2 levels to scrape up the coin to outfit yourself in the MC stuff, which is quite decent. Check it out, definitely, and you should discover that your treasured quested stuff doesn't really stack up that well to it.Check my profile, I'm Jevv on Nektulos.Edit: You'd think I would know how to spell my own server's name, huh

Thanks Jevv, your post was very helpful.  I will start looking into MC.
