How to fight them? I get hit for more than my max health in less than 4 sec. I get stuned/stiffled/rooted (whatever it is) and I can maybe get one hit on them before I die to their auto attack? It appears their reach is just as long as mine not that it would matter due to the short duration of the fight. I can mez them but no way I can kill them before the mez breaks and when it breaks I am dead.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have my epic, decent gear.

I think that's a bit insulting, P. Not everyone is a pro pvper, and asking how to fight the highest dps kite class when you're a kite class is a pretty fair question. One i'd be interested in reading. Personally, i get a healer and a tank, and my ranger woe's go awawy.

enstead of being helpful he would rather be smug. I guess no one has any advice. So much for troub pvp advice. Pehaps I should ask a ranger.

actually its a pretty good dig. i mean anyone who knows what a mez in in this game knows that mez breaks on one point of damage, ergo killing someone "before mez breaks" is not possible.

Even though it looked hard, it was still completely legit imo..Mezz anyone and even the smallest amount of damage will break it, so of course it is not possible to kill anyone before the mezz runs out..On your question on how to kill a Ranger..No idea honestly, never been on a PvP server, and if I was going there a bard is most likely not something I would want to play

Try dropping a mez as soon as the fight starts. make sure you do not that your aria song up as it might proc and break the mez of anyone your PVPing. what I do is Mez the target then I fully debuff and with rangers I move just outside melee range. once they are fully debuffed I cast Jesters cap and PotM then I wake them with my ranged stiffle attack and move in melee range and follow it up with some of my better arts. a ranger will snare and run as fast as he can and (why rangers can run faster than bards with AA I have no Idea... someone likes rangers) that is when I cast all my range spells. This will not win you the fight every time but it should give you a better chance.

I play a level 73 ranger, and although I don't PvP, if I did, my strategy would be to stay at range (go figure). Conversely, anything you could do to prevent that would remove my advantage over you.

And yes, people still play rangers. My husband and I both do, and we make a surprisingly strong duo - we just stand at range from each other. By doing so, we can make a single, tough mob, run back and forth between us. With multiple mobs, we target the mobs in melee range of the other, and knock them out pretty fast (i.e., we avoid melee whenever possible - it's the only time we die. So far, nothing has ever killed us at range, so I suspect the only way you can is if you can stop us from being able to hit you at range. I suspect that the best way to kill a ranger would be to run straight at them, and wail away. For sure, if you ran away, you're dead meat.)

Not a PvP'er in EQ2 so I am gonna guess here on some tactics.

Might want to have a full set of relics that give clear voice and stun resists. Perhaps worshiping Bristlebane for the Stun/Stifle resist ability would be good.

In EQ1 we beat other classes with speed. Not sure how well we fair in EQ2.

ok only read the 1st post but the only way ive found to kill a rangers is something along these lines...mez...debuff...potm/jcap.....stiffle..dps....stun when stiffle ends...dps.....dead most of the time or if your lucky you should be able to get off another mez before you die just make sure you dont have any dots on the ranger

You will NEVER get a second mez off against another scout. Fights with non-healers just don't last long enough.

Open every fight with the stiffle shot. Then throw shrill and if you're in range, thunderous overture. Maybe use your melee attacks as well. My personal melee combo is: cheap shot -> dancing blade -> bump -> night strike -> round bash (AA) -> ceremonial blade -> evade. THEN you mez. Opening with mez is a waste. Once your mez lands, you drop Aria and throw every debuff you have (except Kian's). Once you're done with your debuffing, go stand behind them either at max range or just outside melee range, PotM+JCap yourself and break the mez with your stiffle again. Then throw every spell you've got and either start kiting, or move into melee range to finish them off.Obviously this only works when you're fighting someone who isn't carrying 'Immunity to Everything' potions with them. If you see a Bristlebane deity pet, you can pretty much assume you're going to lose a fight with that person. You might win a few, but a troubador is just second-rate DPS without their control effects.

It's in a group that a troubador really shines. Charm and Mez are much more useful in group v group pvp and can easily turn the tide of battle. Power drains dont look very useful until you're in a 6v6 fight with enough healers that you can't spike anyone out. That stiffle isn't much good in 1v1s where everyone has immunity potions, but once that healer has used his 1 potion, it works great for letting your group kill someone without heals. Our group buffs are more effective the more people are in the group, and ofcourse there's nothing more satisfying than watching requiem of reflection proc and reflect Apocalypse or Bolt of Ice... or Death Touch. Also, PotM does an absolutely insane amount of damage in group pvp if you have any kind of mage, and still does nice damage even with only scouts (if they know which CAs will proc it)

Troubador is a very solid class and *CAN* solo quite well, but really only shines in a group.

(Now don't say I never help people, if you don't understand basic game mechanics, then don't get offended when I suggest you bought your account.)

How I would kill a Ranger:

I am not T8 with my troub yet. But I do know a few things you can do to make the fight a lot easier. One is mez him untill you have all your debuffs on him. Including your slow so he cant run and shoot you at ranged. Then you stick up his butt like a fly on crap and melee the heck out of him. If you have to use a pot to prevent from being stunned/stifled. (That is probably a must in most cases lol). When you need health charm him or mez him depending on what is available at the time. Make sure he has slow on him at all times and never let him get within shooting range of you.

How I would kill an Assassin/Swash/Brig:

Same thing with ranger mez him till you get all your debuffs on him (including slow that is a must). Provided you have your range maxed in AA line kite them and dont let them get within melee range of you at all. If you do you might as well say your gonna lose lol. If you need health once again charm or mez him wichever is available. If he does get in range of you or you feel like he can at any moment. Make sure to use a pot that prevents you from being stifled/stunned. Dont forget to keep them slowed at all costs. Use your ranged attacks to kill him. (Ie. all your mental damage attacks you can cast while kiting). Dont think I had to add that in there but just in case someone got up too early and didnt understand me.

How I would fight a Bard:

Honestly all I have to say is GL lol

Again I am probably a n00b when it comes to T8 with Troub. I do not know all the spells we get yet. But that is just what I would do from exp with palying the class so far. I am really sorry if you dont find any of that helpful. I may have forgotten things too lol.
