It's not troubadour vs. dirge. It's minstrel vs. non-minstrels. I'd just like to dedicate a bit of forum space to share that I thought from level 10 to level 27, I really found theINT branch of the bard achievement tree to be quite helpful, and a triumph in wit. I really love the line. You get more intelligence. This has noticeable effect on our spells almost immediately. Minstrels are smarter than other bards. You get a nifty attack which boosts your attack skills and casting skills. Minstrels are more effective attackers and casters than other bards. You get a boost to songs which affect combat skills or casting techniques. Minstrels are again better at this than other bards. You get a boost to songs which affect DPS and Attack Speed. Holy Crap. Minstrels ROCK the attack speed. Minstrels hit hard often. But no. None of these bring the wit.Where is the wit, you ask?Well. I really have to say that I appreciate the fact that my HO's *cough* are 50% more effective. This not only means that the minstrel hasbetter HO'S than everyone else in the game *cough*, but that just the presence of the minstrel makes everyone's HO's better. Is this not thevery heart of our profession? If we're not playing for the HO's, then what are we playing for? The beer?!? Bah. Not only can we manipulateHO's with our shady ways (the scout skills...you know...), but we guarantee that all HO's in sight are at their best. We, in a word, are themasters of HO's.This is why I signed up for the job in the first place. Clearly.Now. I'm aware that I'll probably grow out of it. I mean, the HO boost in my late twenties is a great thing, but will it be hot at 50? Perhaps not.I might hang up my Minstrel ways in pursuit of a better path. However, I can say, that the INT line has been great to me so far, and I've enjoyed havingthe best HO's around. I'm truly blessed.
