Void Tempests after GU 48

Is there any point in fighting the void tempests now?  They've been left in the world but the arcane scientists (?) that we used to report to have all disappeared or been killed.  If we fight them now do we still get shreds and can we still turn shreds in for rewards?There's a lot going in now what with the murder of the seeress and the guild hall construction/harvesting quests.

Seen a lot of peeps using weapons from the storms, the stats are not bad at all and the look is... well not really cool, they look like made from silver bubles  but still a new look and good stats...
