Recently, within the last week I've been noticing that I'm getting a strange error message when casting group (Possibly single target) wards and group heals during raids.I don't know if it's an item I've recently acquired or what. It's usually during a big ugly fight that I see the message, so I'm not at a place where I can step back and analyze the situation well. (I'm going to have to if it keeps up.)But has anybody seen this lately?

<p>I have not seen this lately, but as I'm the only shaman that is on our guild's raids most of the time there isn't much chance for it.</p><p>Typically when you see this message it's because someone else has already cast a more powerful (either by level or by quality)version of the spell you were trying to cast and the game will not allow you to overwrite their more powerful spell with your lesser one. I'm not entirely sure how it works when both have the same quality & level of spell...might favor whomever landed first or might just overwrite.</p><p>So, all that to get to the question, did you get another mystic (or perhaps a defiler) that has been raiding with you recently? Or possibly has that person upgraded to masters of those spells & you still have ad3? </p>

<p>I am a templar. When I'm in a group, and I mentor down, I will sometimes get this same message. My buffs are already up when I mentor. Nothing else in the group has changed, so it is not because another templar cast the same buff, etc.</p><p>In my case, I wonder if one of my buffs is too high level and will not take effect since I should not be able to cast it at that level?</p><p>Is this when you are getting this message, or is it unrelated to mentoring for you?</p>

That's not it.The "Would not take effect" message is from the overflow function on Mystic heals.Say for instance you are in the MT group. You cast Healing Ritual, which is your biggest heal, with the biggest overflow amount attached to it. You follow that up with a group heal. You'll get the message "Would not take effect" because the overflow effect from Healing Ritual is still active, and a lesser overflow effect from group tried to take hold on the main tank.

Thanks Bandit. That makes sense, although it's odd that I've never seen the message before this last week.I'm lvl 80 with all master heals/wards so I knew it wasn't someone using a more powerful spell.

Yea, you know the weird thing is that it doesn't seem to happen all the time, usually on group casts. For instance, I can follow up Ritual Healing with my small heal and not (usually) trigger it. Probably some ridiculously obscure bug in the code that allows that to crop up from time to time.
Did you recently get the SoH item that procs the heal dolls. Im pretty sure you will get that message if it tries to proc on someone who already has one in there inventory.

That may also be another cause of it, but I personally do not own that ring, but I do get the message sometimes.

<p>If you have the Prince ring that procs the child dolls you will get a messange in the chat box that says So and So cannot accept that item.</p><p>If your still using your T7 ward masters and the other Shammy/s are using their T8 ward you will get a message across your screen that says "Would not take effect" due to the tier differances.. This happened to me in T6 / T7 / T8 raid zones before my spells were updated to the next tier.</p><p>Your group heals shouldn't give this message because it's a heal less your in a group with another mystic whose using their T8 group heal.</p>

<p>Having more than one item that proced "Shelter" used to do this. Not sure if it still does since I no longer run with any Shelter items</p>

It doesn't have anything to do with the heal itself Aliya, it has to do with the overflow effect attached to the heal.

Yes I have the Prince ring from SoHate, it gives a different message (Like when you try to cast rez clickies twice).I have T8 Master wards/heals and no shelter items. It mostly happens on group spells, and I've only noticed it recently.

Banditman I got that the Heals don't have anything to do with it but the Hit point bonus buff from both Heals and the Group Heal do stack this much I do know.. My only guess is if they are two different tiers you end up with a "Would not take effect" message.. thats all.</p><p>I've yet to have my items Overflow Healing say "Would not take effect" tho so that seems odd.</p><p>My guess would be if it happens again when your out raiding check with the other shaman and make sure your both using your highest tier wards/heals.</p>

I even get the message when we're not in combat and I'm the only one in the group casting wards.. for the sole purpose of proccing an Innoruuk doll into someone's bag.

That could be it for me at least. I still use the L70 group heal because the heal amount is basically identical to the L80 Ad3 and the power cost is less. I do however use T8 versions of the single target heals and Ward.

The lower tier spells attempting to cast over the t8 spells will give you the message. Procs/spells/cas that don't affect epic mobs will give you the same message as well.</p>
