I recently reinstalled onto my freshly reformatted computer but am still having the same problems as when I played 6 months ago.80% of the time while zoning I am kicked back to the character selection screen and have to wait a while before the game allows me to log back in again.<p>Happens both with and without autorun turned on.The game hangs for between 5 and 20 seconds before I am shown the loading screen then kicked back to the char select screen.</p><p>Since my reformatting I have downloaded all the latest updates for XP and all the latest drivers (to my knowledge) for my sound/video cards.</p>

Are on a home/school network?Have you verified the ports are open on the router/modem?You may want to see if the firmware/bios on the router/modem is current and update if needed. You will also want to start with a clean boot to verify no other programs are causing a conenction issue.1. Select the START button.2. Select RUN, then type in "msconfig" (for Vista, type msconfig in the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu)3. Press OK4. Select the STARTUP tab.5. In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY. If you use Windows XP, please note that SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY will not be listed - just uncheck the entire list.6. Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer and try the game again. If you are still experiencing the same issue, please reply back.

<strike>"Network errorThe Station Launchpad is unable to connect to the network at this time. Please try again in a few minutes"Suggestions? (Thanks for the speedy reply by the way)Restarted firewall and game is now loading.Testing zoning as I type.Cannot replicate zoning logout now.Re-enabling firewall on startup to see if problem has stopped.Remaining startup services were control panel for sound card, Apple Ituens helper, Apple sync notifier, Adobe Reader, MSN messenger, QTTask (Quicktime) and jusched running from my java install location. Is it one of these that might be causing the issue then?</strike>

Port information can be found <a href="http://help.station.sony.com/cgi-bin/soe.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=12293" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a><p>UDP connections are initiated from the EverQuest II client on UDP ports 9100, and UDP ports in the range 32800-33000.Additionally, ICMP messages type 0 (echo reply), 3 (unreachable), 8 (echo request) and 11 (expired) should be permitted bi-directionally between the client PC and the EverQuest II servers. </p>

It will walk you through most of the process.

<strike>I've allowed what is effectively all EQ2 activity with my firewall.Having enabled one of the two startup services for the Outpost firewall and having only firefox and msn messenger (with plus!) seems to have brough back the problem.Going to try running eq2 with msn off.</strike>With MSN not running I am getting the problem again.Have followed ports guide, adding rules for both incoming and outgoing.I'm still being logged out on zoning. Port forwarding doesn't seem to have helped.

The static IP setup resulted in connection problems (which I know you guys can't help me with).Zoning still logs me out the majority of the time and the aforementioned suggestions do not seem to have worked. What would you suggest now?

If you could PM me your station name. Id like to log on and see if I get the erros from over here as well. This should let us know if it is a conenction or account issue.

Is this the same issue many other people are experiencing? When you zone you get stuck on "Connecting to zone server" then it kicks you to character select... try logging in again from there and it says it times out. You have to exit EQ2 and restart everytime this happens... it's about 80% of the time now for me.

Getting the same thing since yesterday. Crashing after character select. On the rare ocassion I was able to get in I was kicked right after zoning. This happened suddenly as I was playing one of my chars earlier the same day and started noticing it after I tried to camp to a diferent char. Two weird things around that - when I was playing my character before i started notcing it I was unable to loot anything and kept getting a message that I cant loot. The second was the one time I was able to log on with one of my other chars and as I was in front of a broker I tried to hail him and I kept getting a response that I am too busy to do that. I went to zone to the next zone and try another merchant and it crashed then. The one thing I am certain is that nothing new was installed on my comp before it started happening.I went ahead and reinstalled all my drivers and also executed a chkdsk jut to be certain. I havent had a chance to check out if it made any dif but I will later when i get back.

Thanks. <blockquote> "Connecting to zone server" </blockquote> I don't get any such message, the game just hangs, then takes me to the loading screen then I get kicked back to char select after loading. I also haven't been crashing after character select - just having to wait to relog as it says I still have a character in the world (which suggests to me that the server connection timed out).
