I'll be running along fine at 20-30 fps and suddenly things will drop to 2-3 fps or even 1! An fps of 1 basically means zero. This isn't correlated with change in terrain or zone or anything in the game like combat. I check the processes in Windows Task Manager for CPU use and nothing seems odd there. If I wait for a minute or two, it comes back to normal.Any suggestions? This only happens in EQ2 that I can notice.

I have this same issue. I don't see any processes chewing up CPU/Memory during the fps drop either.

I am getting the same thing. Im running a mobility radeon 3650, 4gb ram. windows7 x64, core 2 duo 2.0ghz

My internet connetion is strong and stable. No other applications running in background. I have tried turning multi core support off and setting affinity to cpu0 and cpu 1 and that seems to help for awhile. not quite sure as to why but thought I would give it a shot. There really is no indication what so ever of what could be causeing this.

I have also tried a clean install from disc with no ui addons. I would apreciate if someone could point me in the right direction as to what might be going on. Im in the IT field so I know what im doing but when it comes to games and there configurations its beyond me. All my other current gen game seem to work just fine.

Are your logs on? Does it happen if the logs are off?

I had this problem when my logs wrote to a SSD, turns our some SSDs do not support concurrent writes. I moved my log files to a standard HDD and the frame rate problem cleared up.

I think i fixed it. I was sure by default pixel shader 3.0 was turned off. For some reason mine was checked on and since i disabled I havent had any major issues like i was having. I dont have a ssd drive so I dont think that was a problem. Thanks for the suggestion though. I really didnt think anyone would even look at this post.
