I have been through many alts, this is the first making it past lvl 30, I am lvl 44. I mostly solo, so at this point I am curious from a solo stand point.

What weapon do you prefer, Dual Wield, Two handed, does anyone use shield plus weapon? I seem to always go back to TH, it seems to kill them faster, my imagination? Looks cool too. Spaeking of looking cool, I did the lvl 20 AC quest, is there more past this one?

Are there any special stats on items to look for to help the Bruiser?

What is your casting order and how much does timing(auto-attack) come into play for a bruiser for best DPS? I cannot remember where I read this but I think there was an add-on that helped getting the timing down, anyone know of this?

How do strategically use Instill Doubt, Heavy Scarring?

Which stance do you like to use, Retaliation, Lava Fist or Fire Stance?

For power and health regen, what is the best accessories to buy that are useful, specially during combat.

I could ask a lot more but that is good for now from a new guy, :0)

As for stats I always wanted the most strength and agility that I could get as I was leveling up. As for weapons I feel that duel wielding benefited my liking the best, but that is only personal.

Casting order for me is always using pummel and throat kick since these should be on the quickest reuse timer of 10 seconds pausing only to allow for an auto attack to get in there, then I would use burning lunge immediately after those so I could get the additional heat damge dot going. Eye rake after that to decrease mobs accuracy. After that I would just cycle through what combat arts that were available but I would allow for an auto attack to go off between combat arts as well. I would advise just experimenting with this until you figure out what you like best or have most confidence in.

Heavy scarring is an ability that I to this day cannot find a bit of use for. I tried it while tanking and taking heavy damage in groups only to find that the stun prevents any damage or movements made by my bruiser and aggro would be lost very quickly only resulting in me canceling heavy scarring so I could regain lost aggro. In my opinion it is useless and should be a replaced combat art that stuns a mob ending with damage similar to how a coercer can stun a mob or as Crabbok has mentioned before a huge ae art that does very impressive damage.

As I was leveling instill doubt and strong arm (bruiser mezz) were on the same cast timer. If I was to use one of them then the other would be useless until the timer had refreshed. I never really used instill doubt since strong arm with aa's will have a longer duration which is better. I personally think instill doubt line should be another replaced combat art with something in a temp group buff like a 10 second group knockout combo.

The stances are situational but I for the most part lived and died (but not that much) in offensive stance while I soloed. I would advise again to experiment with them so you can understand them better.

I can't comment on accessories to buy for health and pwer regen, but a dirge and coercer are wonderful to have as group mates.

Enjoy your bruiser!

I don't claim to be the last word in bruisers, but I have been playing one from 1 to 80 over the last 6 months or so.

For weapons, I went bare handed from low 20s to level 70. I started going bare fisted after I had put enough AA points into the brawler strength line to get Chi. This is somewhat controversial, but in my experience it gave excellent auto-attack damage. Need to put the AA points in before it works though. Once I got to 70ish I was able to get weapons at least as good as fists and respecced to other lines.

I rarely use heavy scarring. Most commonly is when I HAVE to weather something and can't feign. The usual reason is I'm soloing, being pounded by a lot of stuff, my FD just failed, and I'm waiting for it to recycle. If I can't run away I pop that and hope to weather the storm.

For stances, (can't remember names at each level, just think of them in terms of defensive, balanced, and offensive). I mainly used balanced and sometimes offensive. At 80 I'm in offensive more and more. I suggest you try them out and see what works best for you as it'll depend on your gear and playing style I suspect.

Instill doubt -- I keep it on my hotbar, but don't use it much because the casting time is so long and I have other ways of handling situations where they may be useful. Fearing in tight areas with other mobs can backfire as they tend to return with friends. Mezz is good but, at least for me, the casting time is so long in relation to how long it lasts it never seems to be all that worthwhile. In theory though they might be handy for splitting a group. I think I had mild success with that approach a couple times so I keep them around. It's mainly for when all else fails though. At least for me. Maybe you can master the art of mez/splitting.

For stats I look at strength, agility, and stamina in that order although I try to keep from sacrificing TOO much in, say, stamina if strength is already far higher then everything else. Sacrifice too much stamina and hitpoints suffer and it's nice to have lots of hitpoints.

Timing and order of combat arts is important. Timing will depend on your weapons (I'd suggest getting weapons with the same delay if possible, failing that get one which is exactly twice that of the other, treat them as if both had the shorter delay). If an auto attack would have normally gone off during a combat art it will instead be delayed until after the combat art is over. If your combat arts are back to back -- giving no time for your auto attacks, you will loose those autoattacks, which is bad. Therefore, try to pause for half a second or so periodically. For my two second delay weapons (actually, one is 2 and one is 4) I use two combat arts, pause a moment, then two more, etc. If they were a bit faster I'd use a combat art, pause, use another, pause, etc. I've heard it said that if your weapons are slow (say 4 seconds or longer) don't bother with the pausing as just natural variations will give all the room necessary for your autoattacks to get through.

I think that fists count as 2.5 seconds or something (working from memory). When I was using fists I'd use two arts, pause, use two more, etc. In any event, it'll give their delay on your character data sheet.

I am too. Level 80 here.

1. I like DW for the lore. I can't imagine anything else.

2. After AC Armor, there isn't anything like that where you get a full suit. If you don't have the plat for Mastercrafted, get Treasured.

3. STR, AGI, STA

4. Casting order for me has always been using DOT's and debuffs first, then a knockdown followed immediatly by Stomp line......then I use a stun followed by the 100 Hand Slap Line...then I use Eagle Shiek to turn mob for Sucker Punch Line....then I use the 2 fast just damage hits.

5. For Auto Attack in between hits, I pause a half second.

6. I use Heavy Scarring in Off Tanking tough mobs. Once the Tank gets up he gets agro back.

7. Instill Doubt is good if soloing a tough mob u need to get mezz an add. Fear too...but Fear may bring adds with it back.

8. I stay in Offensive stance.

9. With Heal, I dont need health regen too much.

10. Remember the Stomp Line is best used when you immediatly after a Knock Down CA....the damage is much higher.

have fun! Let us know how its going. What server r u on?

Here is my update, so far. Out of my alts I have, my bruiser can solo mobs way faster and easier now that I am pausing for a moment every so often to get the auto attack in. I love how the bruiser can handle multiple mobs at once, after my four attacks(one from being an Erudite), they are gone. The in fighting healing they get is sooo awsome. I got the devastation fist from the bloodlines quest, that is nice in a pinch.
What level is your bruiser now Phantom?

So now that I am above 50, I found out that I need to find my new spells on my own, does the Bruiser Trainer offer all spells available, except ones like devastation fist or adept 4s or master crafted? Or do I only get them from someone making them or getting lucky in drops?

Here is what I did with my AAs so far, I have 52 total, in the Brawler line I did the Int and Wis line to get the Crane Flock and Eagle Shriek, it seems to work for me well. I am on the Bruiser tree and I want to max out the healing, very handy for me. Any recommendations? Again I solo mostly.

http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Solo_Timelines

So I have done EF and I am now 55 almost 56, so it looks like according to the above link, I can go to Tenebrous Tangle or Fallen Dynasty Timeline but I am missing 6 areas, anything worth doing? Anything special for the Bruiser I might not want to miss?

Oh and I got this hat, a trog leather helm I wear in my appearance, I love the oriental look, is there a really cool oriental set for the bruiser?

Nice....Ten more lvls till knockout combination. So get ready!!

Tenebrous tangle was a great lvl 53-57 area. Those baskets for lettuce, flys, serpents, and wasps are nice xp and can be done up to five times in a row if my mind serves me correctly. It is a wonderful zone to grab up group or solo some content. Some area's in lesser faydark are also decent for that lvl as well. Once you get to 58 and can find a group sanctum of scale born is also a nice xp run.

Just keep looking at the zone timelines and do what you can. You have a good idea by doing that.

So are bruiser abilities considered spells?

Quicksilver74

Bruiser do not have spells, we use Combat Arts. Disruption is meaningless to us, though the casting speed does actually affect our Combat Arts, so that much is slightly usefull. As for the falling speed, we have the safefall skill so really don't need any feather fall abilities.

caeleran wrote:

So are bruiser abilities considered spells?

Most people call them spells and some internet sites call them the same however they are officially called combat arts.

If you are visiting any EQII site looking for bruiser combat arts lists it could possibly be viewed as "bruiser spell lists". As long as the site is EQII related and says "bruiser" you should be able to find what you need there. Again bruisers do not use spells even though there is an activation or process time allowed when a combat art is to be used.
