This problem has occured four times over the last three weeks. When I activate a spell, either with a mouse or hotkey, the name of the spell appears in the chat window and does not cast. Repeated clicks send repeated spell names. I havent been able to figure out why this happens, or duplicate the problem.Rebooting doesnt help, the problem persists after the reboot.Resetting the UI (profit) doesnt help, the problem persists.Closing the chat window doesnt help. The problem seems to fix itself after a while.Any help on this would be appreciated.

I've had this happen too since the voice chat update. The only thing I can do is click buttons at random and I always start with shift, then R, then C and pray.

Greetings,That happens when you are holding the shift key while pressing the hotkey. If you are using push to talk then you probably don't want to use Shift as you PTT key. Its also possible that you have 'sticky keys' enabled in windows. That can usually be corrected with a simple computer restart unless you have actually toggled it on in the control panel.

Just hold shift and click a CA when it happens, after that it's all normal.

I am still having this trouble after months. Just like the person who first posted said:

"When I activate a spell, either with a mouse or hotkey, the name of the spell appears in the chat window and does not cast. Repeated clicks send repeated spell names. I havent been able to figure out why this happens, or duplicate the problem."

This often gets me killed - and clearly prohibits me from grouping because of it. My Stikey keys in Windows XP are off.

The quickets solution to this I have found was control-tabbing to a different window and back again - but doing 20 times a day really blows.

What folders do I have to delete and reinstall to correct this issue? I have the STOCK UI mind you - and have even tried "/loadui" to see if it clears anything up- to no avail.

Tell me I don't have to reinstall ALL of EQ2 ...

Still no real fix for this problem? About 4 months ago I left the game while having this issue, got back just the other day and it's still the same. New hardware, different OS, fresh EQ2 install... Eh? Why does this only happen to some of us? Very annoying bug.

I had this the other day... It started out a splacing my spell names in the chat window. I ca,ped out and it was fine when I came back in. I did notice though that while I was web browsing, rather then opening the new page on the same tab, it woudl open a new window completely. I rebooted the whole system and it is fine now. I think it just happend from pushing a wrong key someplace, but not sure...

Did you check your key binding in game by any chance?

With some luck you can smash random keys like ctrl, shift and alt and it will go back to normal for a while. Most of the time it results in your icons getting stuck and you have to restart the game. And this has happened to me multiple times every single day since voicechat went live.

The thing is that you don't even have to touch the keyboard for this bug to kick in. One time I logged on to my dirge who had revived last time I played. Before I hit a single key I started buffing up and after an icon-click or two the spells ended up in chat.

This bug is getting so annoying I'm about to quit the game because of it. I get it all the time - middle of fights, while auto-running, while chatting, while browsing the broker... Maybe 10-15 times/hour everything stop working.

Now I've tried a bunch of different keyboards and even swapped mouse but no. Other than keyboard+mouse my entire system is new since I first started getting this bug, so now I've tried everything. Can some dev please check this out? It was said to be hotfixed months ago but apparently it's not.

Check out Zoltaroth's post: http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=425678

Edit: Just for fun: Before I wrote this I 'fixed' the bug. A friend had sent me a tell while I was posting here so I clicked the EQ2 window and hit the keys r, h, i and enter. I hit r again for one more reply and, guess what, the r didn't work because the game now thinks I'm holding shift, ctrl or alt... This is how little is needed for it to break

I too have had this bug since about Kunark. With me it's "just" the spells that are affected (when playing my wizard main). Not just irritating but has cost me groups too. I'll be watching this thread to see if this bug is actually removed.

Takes 1 second instead of having to go to window-mode, alt-tab to some other program and then back to EQ2.
