I have noticed over the last month or so that whenever I log into the game my sound is defaulted to all the way down. Once in game I have to alt+O the options window and turn up master volume. This is very irritating as it happnens everytime I log in. Also, the loot window position is not being saved, it defaults to being in the upper left hand corner of the screen. My bag positions and other UI settings are fine.

Please can someone help me??

Are you using a customer UI at all? I had a problem like this previously while using Profit. I uninstalled and reinstalled the UI and it seemed to have corrected this at the time.

No custom UI, no changes made to game or computer before this started happening

All charcters or just 1 or 2 in particular?Try deleting these files and lets see how it works for you.cache foldereq2_recent.inieq2_default.iniEverQuest2.exee q2.iniAs well as these files, which you will want to probably save to another folder instead of delete.Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.ini Stationname_characters.ini

It's all characters. I will try deleting those files and let you know.

Am I creating a new folder for these files? Insert into existing folder? If I need to create a new folder, does it matter where the new folder is?

I would create a new folder called "UI old" to save UI files

Well, I'm in game with sound....so far. Now I have to reset my UI for each of my 8 toons. Time to get to work. Thanks.

Lets make sure that your game folder isn't being set to read-only.1. Navigate to the Sony folder (Default: C:Program FilesSony)2. Right click the 'Sony' folder and select 'properties'3. Go to the 'General' tab4. Uncheck the box that says 'read-only' at the bottom of that window5. Select 'apply to all files/folders' when prompted6. Follow the exact same steps but on your 'Everquest 2' folder this time. Please respond if the issue persists after trying the above

The folders were set to ready only, which I changed. I was talking with my husband about this problem (he plays and doesn't have it) and we came up with an idea on what may be causing the sound issue. I am running windows vista and I play in windowed mode. Most of the time when /camp desktop I minimize the EQ2 window. I've noticed with vista that when a window is minimized, the sound on that window stops. Then when I re-log into game, no sound and I have to alt+o to the master volume control. If I do not minimize and leave window open, I'm fine when I re-log. Not sure about the loot window defaulting to upper left hand corner as my husband runs windows xp and has the same issue sometimes. Anyway, do you think that minimizing the window is my problem? Vista doesn't take sound away from all windows, just some (I can minimize Rhapsody and still listen to music).

Btw, I'm not running EQ2 in compatability mode, but as I am the only account on this machine I'm assuming it's running as administrator. Also, been running game on vista since May, only started having these issues last month.

Thanks!
