Hey all, I am an old vet of EQ1 and played eq2 when it first came out and am coming back to it now. i am in love with the idea of a scout type class. sneaking around, stabbing stuff high dps. i like to have some utility just for flavor to spice it up a bit. i have a 55 brigand right now who is the STA line i duo a lot and end up tanking which is alright on my brig but it gets old fast cause i always am stunning running around stabbing etc. i have a 51 dirge from before i quit back 4 years ago who i liked a lot but always felt like i was only good when i had a group and couldnt fend for myself/duo well. im just now messing around on an assassin with the intent to betray to ranger. im curious what you all have to say about assassin/ranger as far as my playstyle. assassin being someone who attacks from stealth doesnt seem like it would fit due to the fact that i would be tanking or soloing most of the time and its hard to be stealth while doing that. and ranger seems like it would be great but there would be times it wouldnt. plus im told rangers are great one minute crappy the next due to patchs. id jsut like fellow scouts input on what they recomend, which class, what build. etc. any insight would be great, thanks in advance. happy stabbing
He's asking troubadors about how we feel about other scout classes? Ha! Ha! Ha! That's funny. If you are looking to tank then don't be a scout. Go for guardian or beserker. If the only reason for being a scout is stealth then I would suggest picking another class other than scout and buy chameleon totems on the broker. They are cheap these days.

Well I can only give you my opinion on the subject.....

As a troub you will have difficulty soloing compared to the other scout classes... so decide what you want to do end game and then decide what class to play...

If you want to do mondo DPS then go with Assasins or Ranger, and i have seen Assasins top 5k in our groups while rangers hit 4k (this is our group setup not how all perform)... It seems Assasins do the most DPS in the game hands down (i coudl be wrong but that is what i have seen). And if you are tanking with your scout yeah it will be hard to sneak around and do the max DPS liek they do. Rangers fight from a distance and go through alot of arrows and can be costly earlier in the game.

If you want DPS with a bit o utility I woudl go swashy or Brigand.....

And then you have the troubs and Dirges who I sum up as Utility with some DPS thrown in. We DPS But we make the others DPS better... In a normal group I am doin 1-1.3k damage and i have very few masters and no Epic, but with me in the group and buffing the casters and Melee Dps they do alot more than if they were without us...

And you are a scout you are not supposed to tank.... If you are duoing get a tank to duo with. You shoudl be doing the damage while a tank holds aggro, and should only be tanking if the tank goes down and the healer needs to get him up...

So i guess first step is to decide what your end game is and then approach from that direction.

Assa or Swashy for Tanking Scout, they can both do dps and hold the mobs..I've done Maidens with an Assassin Tank more than once, can surely be done
