Teachings of Yuro HQ. Quest needs an update for Sunfish Casserole, but commission crafting doesn't work to get the update. I understand it's only a lvl 5 recipe, but for those that don't wish to craft at all commission should work to update this quest.

IIRC the point of the quest is to sort of perform a task for a mentor. Think Mr Miagi... Daniel wouldn't get credit for paying his buddy $5 to paint the fence. Getting someone else to do the work is sort of against the spirit of it, is it not? It's a very low level recipe requiring dirt cheap ingredients. You even get the recipe book free from the tradeskill tutorial quest.

Just like some quests require one to kill mobs, others to make deliveries; one of the requirements for this quest is to make a sunfish casserole. If one does not want to make the casserole, then one does not want to complete the requirements of the quest.

Sorry to see the same thing happening again.I agree with you...why force an adventurer to craft if they don't want to. Sure, it's just 30 mins or so to hit L9, but it is forcing a player into crafting for a quest.Yanno, there was also a huge hue and cry about forcing crafters into adventure zones with the RoK recipes...forcing them out into Bathezid, Riliss, Danak...many were complaining about how their L1's were leveled by disco . I read the same thing in level chat and the Good_Crafting channel. Yet when an adventurer voices the same sentiment about being forced to become a crafter, they're told to suck it up, man up, and just do it. The other HQs are commissionable...PGT, Manastone bag, Stein of Moggok...this one should be too. I think several other quests which have tradeskill components are commissionable. What comes to mind are the ones from Enchanted Lands...you gain Provi, Tailor, Weaponsmith and I think Carpenter recipes as quest rewards. I think Yoru is the only one where it's not commissionable. It used to be that you could buy the casserole off the broker and get a ding. You could also be handed one and get the ding. But somewhere back a GU broke this.Anyhow, you're not alone in this Rashaak...I know others who don't like it either but they won't speak up about it because of the severe negative reaction they receive for not wanting to be forced into crafting.I just find it all sadly ironic.

It use to be that you could buy the stuff needed and then you get the update when you turned it in to him. Did that change? It is quite possible, it use to be a braised deer steak or something instead of sunfish caserole.

How productive and logical is that?

Commission system was put in to accomodate thoughs who do not craft and I am simply pointing out it is not working with this HQ, however the Commission does work with other HQ's that have already been listed above. It doesn't matter what the level the recipe is, it's not working as intended, because...as others have pointed out it used to update just by purchasing off the broker. It is now not working this way and is not working through Commission either.

So now...in order to complete this HQ if I choose...I have to go back through harvest materials and then craft enough to be able to make this recipe for a quest update? That is whats called a time sink and something that the EQ2 team has strived to limit as much as possible.

I just cant see it. There are many many quests that include doing things I dont want to do on a particular character (level forestry to 140 for example). Solution? Dont do that quest on that character. I just cant see the problem.
