new system - performance check

ok i just got a new system last week, and yeah sad to say performance isnt as good as i expected it to be. but yeah just wanted to know if performance for my system is about right, or if i have some driver issues of sorts.heres my rig:Intel E8500 clocked to 3.8GHz4gigs of Corsair DDR2-800 ramPowercolor HD4870x2ASUS P5Q-E moboWindows Vista Ultimate 64at extreme performance, minus shadows and lowered particles, i get 30 or so FPS in raids and 20 or so FPS in raid fights. in areas like danak shipyards i can get FPS 50 and aboveis there a reason why theres such a huge hit in raids and in fights? im running at 1920 x 1200 btw.thanks in advance!

simple, in raids & fights you have a lot more going on.  Animations all over the place, spells going off, calculations of damage....etc.

yep of course, i understand that. but just wanted to check if it was normal to get those reported framerates on my system. have no one else to compare with hehe

4ghz c2d, 4gb ram and 4870 here and those framerates are about the same as i get, if you mean extreme quality ofc :p

yep extreme quality less shadows and not full particles.i know the second gpu on my 4870x2 is useless in EQ2 so yeah if it performs like a single 4870 i guess im good ;p thanks!

oh yeah, anyone using a GTX280 with similar system specs? im considering returning the x2 for a GTX280 since eq2 doesnt support multi GPUs anyway. any idea if performance will be different on the GTX280? or is it all limited by my CPU?

I have a PC on order and even with it, it seems I might not be playing at max.  It's kinda discouraging actually... The specs are:Intel core 2 quad q9550 2.83ghz4gb ramAti radeon hd 4850 512mb

yep but my guildie seems to get better frames on geforce cards, i do recall him using 2 x 9800+ series cards and getting 20 fps higher than me on raidsbut then again he has a crazy PC, C2Q or C2QX 9650, 8gigs ram etc. not sure whats causing such a huge difference in fps, since EQ2 uses a single core anyway ;p
