View Full Version : LD's in VP post GU 48

After GU 48 the LD's in VP have skyrocketed for my guild in VP. I've seen at least one other complaint saying the same so I'd like to bring it to the attention of anyone out there that cares to try and fix it. On nexona we suffered 2-3 LD's per fight. That slowed our progress through the zone to a crawl, and once we got to Drushk..again 2-3 Ld's the same fight. Folks are going LD that *do not* normally suffer from connection issues. They are reporting client crashes as the cause of the LD's and this was not happening before GU 48, and seems to be unrelated to pattern links that were already patched.

We had the same issues with a zone we started on 31-09-08 with crashing 05-09-08 adn 06-09-08.

A new zone we then started 06-09-08 didnt result in any LD's

It might be instances started before the update and finsihed after (we raid each weekend so get as far as we can ten finish weekend after)

Our instance was started on 9/6 so that doesn't seem to be the case for us. Although perhaps after reset things will clear up..won't know till next weekend

Dozen LDs in an Instance opened pre GU48 and playing in it post GU48. We will reset and try a new one, but we also had LDs in a newly opened SoH Zone :-/ Regards, theriatis.

My guild actually released us almost 2 hours early lastnight from all the LD/DC's. Started in PR where 4 of us got booted...then in VP, about 6 of us. There is no way this could be client side. Somethng changed with the update. I have NEVER had any packet loss or been booted from EQ2 until the update. Any word on what might be causing this?

We also had issues this past Sunday night with LD problems for a few folks who normally have stable connections.

And then there was the first pull against the "new" Milyex...the entire zone crashed and we all got booted to desktop. After that "burp", we were fine for the next 4.5 hours trying to take out Milyex. (Yay for Monday's patch on this encounter!)

I know I've had two crashes in the past week on the world event quest in Antonica. My computer is only a few months old and it is running with two video cards. One would think that after sinking a lot of money into a new gaming system, I would be able to play in a "non-raiding situation" on middle performance settings!!!! Twice I have tried to forage a skeleton on the ground to spawn the mob to kill for the bone chip (while on mid settings) and my video has locked up. After having to do a total reboot of my system, I come back and everything is okay. I try to do at least one of these bone chip quests as soon as I log in, and it's starting to get to the point where I'm having to play this game in "non-raid zones" on low end settings because of lockups like this. (I normally run on high performance settings during raids, because too many spells effects on my screen just add to the lag and I can't see the mobs.)

Client crashes at least 2 times a night now and I KNOW its not my system. Complete format and reinstall 1 week prior to update with absolutly no problems. The day of the patch and since I crash at least 2 times a day. I Have cancelled my account. I have had enough and might look into coming back if and when this garbage gets fixed Maybe with the Xpac. Im getting sick of playing a broken game. And yes it is perpetually broken. They fix one thing a [Removed for Content] another.

Hi guys,Thanks for pointing this out. There was a change to Milyex that is causing a stability problem when you have raid players that are not in VP. We'll get this fixed in an upcoming hotfix, but until then, you can work around it by only having players in your raid that are participating in the raid.My apologies.

While its good that you found that problem, I don't think it explains the crashing we've been experiencing. Our crashes are happening in the middle of encounters where all players are in the zone (cause you know...we need them for the enounter lol). Also folks are reporting it in other raid zones as well. Someone in the general support forums posted a crash log mentioning mss32.dll. Might be worth checking out.
We had 3 players crash last night in Chamber of Destiny for what its worth. Very random, a few in Korsha i think too.

Yes, this seems be a problem affecting all raid zones but most are vocal about VP. Other zones are more forgiving about lost players in the middle of named encounters, VP is not. Losing 2-3 ppl (especially if they are key..like oh a statue clicker on drushk) on a named encounter in VP means wipe after wipe till you get lucky enough not to lose folks over the 10 minute encounter. And the new Milyex leaves zero room for lost dps classes as well. Hoping the problem can be found quickly if it isn't what the dev above posted.

In named encounters on other parts of the zone (and in other zones) we are only averaging about 1 LD every 10 minutes so that is not tooo bad.

/sarcasm off

Seriously, Here are a couple of points...

1) How the heck can you only have players in your raid that are participating? I was a business major in college not an English major, but I do know the game mechanics requires everyone to zone into the zone individually. This being the case, you MUST as some point have people outside the zone.

2) Why the heck are we getting the Milyex totem spam constantly in the zone at the zone's zone in point. Do we really need to know that the statue is powered up every minute?

3) Why the heck are you keeping an encounter in the game that is breaking other encounters and lowering the enjoyment of the raiding community as a whole? The zone was playable before...yes there were the occasional ld's still at Druushk and Silverwing...but we didn't have nearly the issues we have now. You might as well rename all the mobs to Brokenwing at this point since you fail to fix things.

These issues (while they may seem small) are impacting at least 10 thousand players within your playing base and lowering their overall enjoyment of the game.

I will say it in English

ROLL BACK THE CHANGES IN GU48 that affect Veeshan's Peak with the exception of the only thing that is working the 2 pattern drop changes.

Hopefully the devs will be able to read that.

Fatuus wrote:
3) Why the heck are you keeping an encounter in the game that is breaking other encounters and lowering the enjoyment of the raiding community as a whole?
Reminds me of the bugged VS zone that was in game awhile back. =/

One LD every ten minutes..ahhh them were the days lol! I'd take one LD without complaining too loudly but its when 2-3 ppl say "I just crashed" within 3 secs of each other over vent that I kind of want to toss my laptop out the closest window.

We have also noticed a high number of LDs even in SoH. Fighting the sisters we had 3 LD's including tank, 2nd pull we had 2 LDs, and these people nearly never crash, some in Kor Sha also.

Chiming in for the LD crew. Our raid has seen LDs in every zone we've hit. Some players more than others, but those players NEVER dropped before which makes things a little odd.The devs are fighting over who has BoB on thier desk after 48
8 People all crashed at the same time tonight in vp while fighting silverwing. He was roughly at about 25% I think if that helps at all.

So the patch today (9/11) did not fix the LD issue? /sigh

We normally haven't had alot of problems but last night we were in the middle of killing Silverwing when a good 1/3 of the raid crashed. I was part of that and crashed all the way to desktop. Whatever stability issues were addressed definitely didn't fix whatever happened here. Normally we'd get 1 or 2 at most but having 1/3 of the raid crash like that shouldn't happen.

These were people from all different groups, healers, tanks, dps classes so I can't pinpoint anything specific that caused it. I know we were under 40% left on Silverwing when we crashed as well.

My guild is yet another one that experienced an inordinate amount of client crashes in VP and in SoH last night post patch. We were getting upwards of four or five people crashing during a single encounter including myself and none of us have had a history of connection issues prior to this. By the end of last night, we probably had a total of about twenty five crashes...which is a slight improvement over the thirty or so we had the night before I guess. In SoH we couldn't even finish Byzola because of the number of people we kept losing. And, each fight, it seemed like different people would client crash at various stages of the encounter so it wasn't something that was predictable or avoidable. I don't know what changed since the last GU but this is getting to be an exercise in frustration.

Hi,

on our VP Run yesterday (essentially from Nexona to a bugged Hoshkar with no Problems with Milyex),13 People went LD. The Zone was opened early last week, so it could be bugged without the Stabilityfix which came with a Hotfix... Either way, we will send all our crashlogs so you Devs can analyse them.

Regards, theriatis.

P.S. Good Work on Milyex, it's a really Fun Encounter now

We reset our instance yesterday and have spent the last two evenings in VP. A few LD's but nothing like it was before the stability hotfixes. While its possibly we are just lucky..from my perspective they seemed to have fixed it!

I'm having significant problems with getting booted from EQ2 over the last couple weeks, & I've never set foot in VP. It's gotten to the point that I'm not very enthusiastic about logging in at all, because I have no idea anymore how long I'll be able to play before the constant LDs hit.

I have never had this kind of issue with EQ2 in the past, either, but it seems like since LU48 it's constant.

I was booted on zoning several times (between open zones), and had crash to desktop while fighting for sathirian bones.

Our generally stable players have been crashing randomly in VP. Sometimes several at a time.

Ran PR yesterday, client error 2 times for me. Both while main tanking, both with the mob at 45% when it happened (one of them imzok). Luckily being a pally with amends on a swash and with a cohercer and dirge in group I managed to continue tanking both mobs to 0% before going LD but thats besides the point.

I think this needs looking at. Thats twice I have crashed in PR in running the zone once or twice a week since December and they were both on same night and both since LU48.

Are there some client files I need to re download now?

Regards

Kahling

Let me start by saying I rarely, if ever LD, usually when flying into TG on extreme quality graphics (and I REALLY wanted to get a screenie of that place too >< Any way, last night in VP, I went LD twice, once fighting Nexona and again while fighting Druushk. On the Nexona fight I went LD we lost the entire MT group plus about 4 others, including me. There is a minimal chance that so many people, who normally do not go LD, have messed up their computers badly enough that we suddenly dont have enough memory to run EQ2. Please please please fix this issue, really it has been going on quite long enough!

Ok..I thought the LD's were a lot better..then we got to Silverwing. That fight in particular, and it was just like right after GU48 all over again lol. 2-4 Ld's per pull ugh.

I have to agree with the "LD bug" that is listed above. Since my guild go into VP about... I wana say like 3 or 4 months ago now, I have gone LD once and never had the game froze or crashed. After this recent update my game has frozen 4 times and I've gone LD twice just on tonights raids alone. Also we were having almost 1 LD every other trash mob where prior to it was about 1 ~ 4 LDs a night. Something is up and it's rediculous.
