I am trying to get onto everquest 2 for the first time. The computer I use currently runs vanguard fine.

I can get completely on the game, all images load correctly, everything is great, then after 2 min. the entire computer hangs, then reboots. I have updated everything I can find and have searched the forums and can't seem to locate anything that might help... here is my dxdiag info. I have the sound disabled to see if that was the problem.... it wasn't. Any help would be GREATLY appriceate. BTW, it is a mac xp through boot camp

------------------System Hmmmm. There was a new graphics update in August it looks like....A few things to try though... Be sure that your system can handle it (I am not that technical to know by looking at it... lol)www.systemrequirementslab.com can help with that. Also, be sure that you are not overheating. Open up the case perhaps and clean it out a bit, be careful not to fry it.You can also try turing off the autoreboot to see if it has some sort of error happening.

I can't seem to get the computer to stop auto boot. Have tried every trick I know. I'm not even seeing a BSOD. It just gets caught in a loop, then reboots.

I feel that it is probably a driver issue, but I have now cleaned my system and tried several different drivers. Some times I can get on for as long as 20 min, but I still crash.

The card in my computer is a ATI radeon x1600. I KNOW that the computer is powerful enough to run it. I just can't seem to get it to stay up. The computer runs Vanguard (much more intense) just fine. Are their know issues iwth radeon x1600 that I don't know? Would appreciate ANY help. I'm pretty good with computers, and this one has me baffeled.

did you try what i suggested above?

there could possibly be a conflict with the ati card and EQ2, as EQ2, while it *should* run on ati, was designed for nvidia cards.

the only other option to try would be a completely clean fresh boot. do you have an extra hard drive lying around that you could install just windows and EQ2 and any hardware drivers for your system? if you dont, i suggest you get a cheap 80 gig one, as that should be plenty of space to install both EQ2 and windows, be it xp or vista, and all hardware drivers.

once you have determined whether or not a clean build will fix the issue, we can progress from there.

also, there should be some log files in the EQ2 folder. perhaps a TSR could tell you specifically what crash log files they would be looking for, and you could post the contents of those files here for them to take a look at and possibly forward to the dev team.

as of right now, from what you seem to have tried already, it seems the only other possible option would be either get a different video card to test to see if that fixes the problem, or get a cheap hard drive for a fresh install of windows and EQ2 to see if windows is the culprit.

I have the same exact problem running a very similar rig.

Bootcamp on XP, ATI x1600, all of that and like you, I only get these crashes playing EQ2 and Warhammer but I can run other games such as Team Fortress 2 and even Spore, a much more intensive game just fine.

(Can't find an edit button)

Forgot to mention that for Warhammer, I tried reinstalling Windows and reinstalling drivers and everything, and still get these problems.

http://www.warhammeralliance.com/fo...705#post2514705

I had the same problems when playing Warhammer Online, check this thread for solutions. Some people with macs don't have this issue, while others say Vista fixes it right up. I'll keep trying with what I have until something pops up.
