Ok, so within my army of alts I have an 80 Templar. I typically just play him with guildies or my friend when he drags me on PUG's. Now I did a search on this but couldn't find anything that related directly to it. A few weeks ago my friend drug me off to a PR PUG raid. Somehow I got put in the main tank group and I did an ok job I think. At one point during the raid I was asked if I had "Holy Shield" and to make sure I was tossing it on the tank... Well I dont have it and upon reading it I don't see how it would have helped.Holy Shield:Grants an Ally immunity to hostile Area Effect abilities that do not directly target them for a short duration. Now I may be wrong here (as I dont raid on a normal basis) but wouldn't the tank be the target of the AE (Since he would have agro) which would make this useless? Or are these AE's like PBAoE's? I really didn't have a chance to ask as I was trying to make sure I paid attention to what was going on and healing. I have no problem re-doing my AA's but when I read it, it just seemed like a waiste of two points. Currently I am...Int - 4, 4, 8, 8Sta - 4, 4, 4, 8Agi - 4, 4, 8, 7Any information would be great. I do not forsee myself raiding anymore with my Templar but incase I do need to I want to make sure I am performing to the best I can.

You are right about Holy Shield - It's pointless cast on a tank. The best person to cast it on is in fact yourself (or possibly another priest with less mitigation/resists). So that you/they can then cure the rest of the group. They probably meant Shield Ally. Which can easily prevent twice as much damage as both templar and dirge stoneskin spells combined, and is accordingly the norm for raiding.AA wise it doesn't look like you have 70 points yet. I'd have gone for both Shield Ally AND Divine Recovery - without overmuch worrying about heal crits in that case.

Thank you for the information. I was casting Shield Ally on the tank, that is one of the things I use all the time. Right now I have about 68 points in the cleric tree. I can adjust them around and get Holy Shield and Divine recovery. I will probably leave the points in Heal crits and drop some out of melee crit. I dont find myself solo'ing much anymore since I have hit 80. Once again thank you very much for the answer, I find certain boards (like this one) the people are much more helpful when someone asks a question then others.

Yup completely pointless on the tank since they are the "direct target", most of the time. The only time I'd use it is in a group encounter and you want to take the "adds" damage off of the main tank, but only if there is an OT tanking the adds.Another killer is the new increase use of AoE attacks that, no matter the number of targets in the area of effect, are all concitered "direct" targets. Mainly in VP and other high end raiding areas. As far as MT raiding AAs go, there are many different setups. I have complete trust in the otehr two healers in the group so I worry less about speed and go for high defence:Str: 4/6/4/8/2Agility: 4/4/7/8/2Stam: 4/4/4/8I found that putting 8 points into heal crit over the shield enhancing AA worked better for my play style. I found that with speed, I have enough enhanced from the defiler temp buff and my epic/mythical. The big advantage still in the Int line is Divine Recovery, but I found I needed it less and less..
