Hello fellow Rangers, I have started a new ranger recently. I have played the ranger or hunter class in many other games and I am finding that I enjoy this class. I am only level 14 so far but I have a concern that you may be able to help me with. At this point I am finding that I don't really have a lot of "range" power. My melee powers are just fine and I am able to kill most mobs at or just above my level with no problem. All other ranger type classes I have played have been a totally "at range" type class from the early levels. Am I doing something wrong? Or do my ranged skills come into play later on in levels? Currently I start off fights with my bow, even though I would do more damage to stealth in and use my rogue type skills. If I wanted to do that I would roll a rogue. I don't seem to get many arrows in before I feel forced to melee. I have tried to kite a bit, but my weapon is pretty slow at this point. Any input on where my character will go and skills that may develop? I really want to be a ranged class, even when soloing? I don't mind finishing the mob off with a sword, but I want to do most of the damage with my bow. Thanks in advance.

You progess more into ranged as you level but you never go completely ranged in this game. about 32 you should have a good compliment of ranged abilites But your melee combat arts never stop being important and at the current Endgame your target range is 2m.

In this game the only pure "ranged" clases are the Mages.

Thanks Bora,I read the "how to kite thread" but it seems like they have changed the game significantly since then. Whenever I try to kite, they mobs break off and go back to where they were. Not only that, my skills require me to stand still to use them, which makes it very difficult to keep at range.Should I even try to kite a mob until death? It seems that it is beneficial to back up a bit and get in a few extra arrows, but then move to melee.I have figured out the use of the great melee skills available. I can stun, spin around to the mobs back and hit them with my skill that turns me stealth, then hit them hard with my stealth skill. This will sometimes take 80% of the mobs health in just seconds.thanks

Your ranger will feel a lot more powerful later on. Not sure exactly when that happens, but about late-20-ish.

Are all your Combat Arts at or above Apprentice IV? What weapons are you using?
