In the necromancer's pet arsenal there should be a higher percentage of real undead creatures.

All I see in T8 are those scary and unfitting spiders. Can't the person being responsible for creating pets be afraid of spiders, too? Brrrb!

All necromatic pets should be zombies, mummies, skeletons, including animal mummies and skellis. Maybe vampires; they are undeadish, too. Even the shadow and void creatures suit more a warlock than a necromancer. Isn't there enough variation amongst EQ2 undead to provide real undead creatures for necromancers from level 1-80+?

There is no compulsive need to have as many different models as there are number of pets throughout T1 - T8+. Esp. when the kind/model of pet does not belong to undead/necromancy. Why not 'revive' the level 23 zombie model in T8?

I wonder about this, too. Necros have some pretty odd pets, some of which are actually shadow creatures, like the lamia. There are plenty of other undead that haven't been used; the most obvious is mummy.

Once upon a time there was 3 necro pet models: the zombie tank, a MS paint black shadow scout pet and the black skelly caster. Personally I think the pet models are fine now. Oh and btw we have 2 vampire pet models, both of which are scout pets.

I'm fine with having vampire pets. They're technically undead, and thus fitting to the Necromancer class's lore.OP is right about drachnids and void pets though. Void pets seem more like demon summoning, which may be "evil" but not in any way, shape, or form DEAD or UNDEAD, that being the Necromancer's forte (in case Sony forgot). Leave the demon summoning to Warlocks, that's what their story and lore revolves around. And drachnids? They're not undead. They're not even planar. And no drachnid in its right mind would help out anyone who isn't working on behalf of Mayong Mistmoore himself. They recognize only one true "Master" and it isn't any of us.If we're going to continue having drachnids, can we at least get them at normal size? They're supposed to be the splicing of giant arachnids and Teir'Dal -- so why are Necromancer drachnid pets gnome-sized?

A solution to get rid of those non-necromantic creatures would be:

The pets themselves, i.e. the spells to summon them, are free, you get them automatically at the according level. But they are unbuffed, totally weak and useless.

Then you have three buffs: one turns the summoned creature into a tank of the according level, one into a scout, one into a mage. So for instance you could use a necromantic looking level 23 zombie as a T8 mage pet. Those buffs should be treated like the current pet spells: Appr. I - Master I, scribable at the according levels.

By this, more experienced and 'elder' necromancers would have a greater variety of creatures at disposal. They would not be forced to run around with a spider all the time or have only three different (looking) creatures at disposal. In T8 you are forced to use that spider somehow since nobody would cast and actually use a low-level pet.

Maybe the same for elementalists with elementar pet.

i agree as well. necros, are masters of the undead things. heh they really could use more appropriate models. and as a warlock, i think we should be able to have a summoned netherbeast, like the other summoning type mages have. and wizzys have theirs, the fire gargoyle, right i think it is? even if it was not permanant. and maybe only last like 30 mins or so. our mage classes are really fun, and masters of our elements. so why cant we have the appropriat model types? and wizzys/locks keep a sumoned battle pet out like the handy conis and necros? -hint hint, nudge nudge SOE-oH! i also wanted to had, how benificial this would be for us locks/wizzys. in heavey battles in groups or raids, were the bit of extra dps or discration for the tank counts, it woudl seariously cut back on taking the time to cast them, when we could be helping more in battle.

tho i don't play a necro now, i have in the past and i agree....spiders shouldn't be a necro pet. I would love to see a lich and maybe an undead dragon or something....

it's certainly because they take the existing creatures for the pets.

when have they done the revamp of the pets? DoF or KoS?

for exemple, the T7 pets were a gargoile, a spectre and a bloodline vampire.

The spectre comes from DoF. the vampire from Bloodline chronicles and gargoille, I'm not sure if it's the same as the ones we see everywhere.

The T8 pets are a EoF vampire, a new armored vampire and a drachnide (leech) from RoK.

there are undeads that never became pets, like some ghosts, mumies, the things near casic who drop the scraming mace starter, ...

I think they try to make good looking pets more than lore pets. the drachnide is pretty, especially the vasael pet.

I like it better than the golem from the conjuror mythical who is just a jade golem from the city of mist.

would be funny as a mage pet a demi-leech ... just a floating skull with a magical aura surrounding it .

They are dead, sure but not like a mumie or squeleton.

vampires become undead by drinking blood or I don't know what, they are never technicly dead (what I mean by that, they are not burried in a coffin for eternity). So how can you technicly raise something magically when it was never inert.

Necromancers use pets as stupid servants usually that keep walking because of magic. If you take away this magic, they come back as inert body or bones. vampires are not like that, they don't need magic to "live" and they shouldn't need a necromancer to walk on Norrath. Furthermore vampires are usually innate necromancers are are usually stronger than necros. so a necromancer shouldn't be able to make a necro his minion ...

Yups!Guess the thread subject is a bit misleading, for me a necromancer raises the dead, not controll other undead creaters like vampires.I like the swarm of the rats more then the later upgrades, I also found my newest fighter less "necro" then the previous pets I have had. Same with Shadowknight, the later shadowknight "pet" looks less "necro" to me then the previous skeleton types. For me a shadowknight is a mix between a necromancer and a warrior/knight.I want to raise twisted corpses or skeletons to do my biding, not be a vampire or demon controller.Think most is would be happy with being able to choose the apperance of the pet as a first step (from all the current types) then have new models.Would be nice to be able to create your own type of pet from different templates and maybe even equip them with weapons, like you could do with your npc helpers in Diablo 2.Also would like my skeleton form spell to actually turn my necro into a ratonga skeleton with robe or so, that would be awesome and I guess this goes for all races.Squeeks!
