I have an old Sony Vaio desktop with a single core 3.0 ghz pentium 4 with HT processor. I don't recall the vid card but its 256 mb and I have 1 GB ram.

I have lived in the EQ2 world not knowing how bad I had it until the frame rate display was given to us. I knew the system was choppy when running EQ2 and would stutter and lag badly in QH and busy zones. The fps display showed a range of 5 to 18 fps on balanced performance with flora and shadows off. I don't think I've seen it past 20fps. I am not in a position to by a new PC. Not that it would help much in EQ2 performance. My ram is pc3200 400 mhz. Sony said the max the board will handle is 2gb. I'm running XP sp2. Would a dedicated cpu fan help? Would going to 2gb RAM help? Take a look at the stickeid post here on what to post and get the dxdiag report added. You will need to split it into multiple replies

Unless you are running things that take alot of memory in the background then 1gig in XP is plenty. 2gig would not hurt and you may see some performance increase because windows will use the extra memory to buffer your hard drive but IMHO the money would be better spent on a faster video card depending on what card you have now.Vista, for sure, needs 2gig without question.

another gb ram would help hdd swapping mostly, wont increase fps much if all though
