With the new HD4870 and Vista 64, EQ2 now seems to run slower with less frames per second for the same quality settings.

Also when stated that Texutures are based on the Video card memory I meet all the requirments but it still drastically slows down when turned on.

I was just wondering what EQ2's engine is based on and will there be a update to the engine to better suppored card based rendering. Maybe even mutli cores.

The engine is based on spaghetti code. It's a bloated unoptimized mess and it's been that way from the start. SOE used the smokescreen of "being designed for the future" in order to cover the fact that they had a [Removed for Content] on their hands. I also wouldn't count on it getting fixed. This game has had terrible performance for it's entire lifespan and nothing has been done to address the issue. SOE is more in adding new stuff rather than fixing the existing stuff and the core of the game so that they can put new bulletpoints on the advertising material.
