View Full Version : Raise your hand if you "accidentally" call up the help screen way too often

If you rely on the X-button in the top right corner of various screens (player, inventory, etc) to close them, have you found yourself accidentally bringing up the help screen since this feature was added?

I'm pretty sure the X is a good deal smaller than it used to be. I remember back in olden times that I would SOMETIMES bring up the window settings screen by mistake when my cursor strayed too far from the X.

Maybe I am just clumsier than I used to be, and maybe I'm just losing patience with the 2 or 3-second delay that usually precedes the appearance of the help screen (whereas the window settings screen seems to appear instantaneously).

I realize this post is going to be moved to some godforsaken technical forum that no one ever sees. The mod who moves it will probably assume that I'm asking for help with the layout of the screen. I'm not really asking for help or even complaining about this new "feature." I just want to know if other people are having the problem as much as I am, so I would appreciate your answering quickly if you feel my pain.

/raises hand

it really is most annoying as it basically stops the rest of the system while it loads the help too...

Most.. annoying.. thing.. EVER!!!!! Kirstie has already heard my complaints when she was on Test one day. That sucker NEEDS to be moved further away or to the title end of the window bar.I use keybindings for most things, but I can't use them for the bank, guild bank, or the broker and that's when it gets me the most. I also tend to open windows with a keybinding but close with the X (dunno why, just a habit).*hates help button's position*

There are times I only want -some- of my inventory windows open or want to close various bank windows. I'm prone to hitting the help instead of the x especially if there is the tiniest bit of lag (and my mouse pointer isn't exactly where I want it).I've also hit it when I was trying to close the examine window (instead of whacking ESC until the window I wanted to close goes away) or the Preview window.Completely and utterly annoying.Putting it on the other side should be a priority.

Well its good to know that my "alcohol tolerance" isn't starting to diminish like I thought. I find myself doing this as well, even to the extent of multiple times per gaming session, many of which are induced by liquor.

Hand up... and I also manage to somehow maximize the Help window, hit ESC (instantly ridding myself of the thing) only to hit the Help again a few days later during a raid.... presto! a full screen of white Help window. Help! The "x" is too small and in a bad spot. I just don't use Help so often that it needs to be so "convenient."Not as bad as Clear All Hotkeys, just annoying.

/raisehandAnd if I am not totally crazy... you don't even have to click the help button. Just a pixel or two outside the X and you will activate the help feature. Very annoying.
Did anyone else notice that the popup no longer seems to take 30 seconds? Seems like that at least fixes 80% of the annoyance for me.

Can you also check that the "clicky" defined space is actually within the visible space? Cause I've had the help screen issue several times where I know for certain that I clicked well within the X and I suspect the ? space is just a tad large on some resolutions.
