View Full Version : Deflection Importance

I have the understanding that deflection is rather important as a monk. However, I don't see people going down the AA line to get the deflection bonus. Why is that? Is it not worth it to go down that line? I am trying to figure this out before I respec my AA lines.

Everything else in the Stamina line is garbage basically.....a worthless ranged attack with a debuff that gets resisted quite often (at least it did when I tested it out a long time ago).....a proc that doesn't scale well with levels.....and an end ability that really only seems useful for pvp.

It's decent, but only if you're into buffing avoidance?

Sorry, to give a better answer to the actual question. . . I actually spec for claw reversal, deflection, and riposte, but take the other things I like along the way also. Most good monks spec out for mostly hit points/STA, and DPS, but avoidance isn't too bad either. The only snag is that it's less useful against stuff with buffed attack skills, such as heroics, but that's why I use claw reversal also.

While deflection is nice, it occurs late in the avoidance spread and is relatively easy to get gear to improve (it's not like +deflection will do anything for non-raiders anyway).Because of this, and because the other bonuses there are actually halfway decent, I'd personally go for the defense bonus in the agility tree instead if I had to choose one of the avoidance abilities to boost. Additionally, because I raid a lot, contested avoidance doesn't really do much for me in the first place. Hence, the wisdom line's HP boost is actually my first pick amongst the four remotely relevant avoidance lines in the raiding game.
