Direct X error...plz help

I will post this error quickly to see if anyone knows the problem. New laptop with Vista... Direct X 10 installed on it... tried to get 9c but wont let me install because "newer version is found" here is my error after hitting play button on patch screene:liveeq2frameworkcoredevicessrcDirectX9Rend ererDevice.cpp(9820)sRestoreGammeRamp(): Gamma Ramps are not saved

You need DX9 installed on Vista to play dx9 games. Reverted my system back and installed 9c.. Still the same error. Anyone have any idea what it is, and how to fix it? Thanks.
