Are you using the patcher or a CD to install?

I'm getting the exact same issue installing on a Vist home premium 64 bit machine.

This is running the downloadable "re-installer"

Station Launcher Beta FTW!! Installed the Launcher and it scans and updates EQ2 beautifully.

Except...

EQ2 won't launch once it is updated. Station Launcher says its launched. Task Manager says it is running in the processes (taking up exactly 50% of the CPU resources). Alas, the game no worky.

I have done the following:

disabled UAC while trying to launch.

Installed DirectX 9.0c (even though my system has 10 installed already as part of vista - not backward compatible?)

Verified applicable apps have full access through the firewall.

Still, EQ2 doesn't launch successfully. HELP!

Have you right clicked on the launcher and selected run as admin?

Always run as administrator every time I launch it.

It just sits there doing nothing but still listed in the running processes.

FYI, finally got things working properly by moving the EQ2 files out of c:Program FilesSonyEverQuest 2.

It seems Vista treats everything in the Program Files folder as the super secure vault that no one is supposed to be able to touch or even use.

If I could only find XP drivers for my rig...

I know this is a dead thread but i must bring it back up since I am having the same problem with both the EoF DVD's, the downloadable reinstaller, and the trial installer.

Was there ever any resolution to this problem? I am running Vista Home Premium 64 bit.

v/R

Scrownge Tehrhat

It will allow you to install a XP box in Vista, only problem is the video card support. Or if you want to go with a better product get VMWare workstation, again video limitations can be a problem.

I run VMWare workstation on my kids Vista box, have a Windows 98, Windows 95 and windows xp vmware box running that I install all the old games they love to play on that will not run under Vista or Win7.
