Question guys, i'm using Paint Shop Pro Photo XI. When i downsize my pic to the size needed for a signature its stretching and distorting it. Wondering if anybody could give me any advice on how to keep that from happening or if its just normal and you have to work around it. Thanks any help would be appreciated.

my advice is this.. dont resize an image less than about 65% of its original size( possibly 55% if its really good quality) resize both vertically and horizontally equally.

once youve resized your image, crop it to the signature size and shape that you want.. you do not want to take something square for instance, and try to resize it to be rectangular, it will become distorted.

I use PSP 9, but I found a screenshot of the PSPPXI resize dialog, and it's identical to mine (see the image below). Here are my recommendations.

1. Make sure that "Lock Aspect Ratio" is CHECKED. There's no need to edit the numbers in the field to the right of the checkbox...PSP will calculate the ratio for you. When that box is checked, you'll see a lock and a bracket linking your width and height values.

2. I almost always use "Smart Size" as the resample method when resizing screenshots. Depending on the details in the original-sized image, you may need to apply a "Sharpen" once to make the resized image a little crisper.

Hope this helps you out a bit!

Thanks so much guys. I finally figured that out on the locking the aspect ratio just by figuring what the heck i'll click this button and see what happens, lol. But anyway, got one almost completed as a test, worked on it for about 4hrs and my computer decided to lock up and i lost it all, lol. So goes it i guess, but thanks for the response, will help a ton in the future.
