Anybody use a rough gear formula when evaluting gear?

I know the for dps, it generally goes:

crit > CA damage > DA > Dps/haste (dps seems more important as its hard to buff it though) > str

But how do you compare say

1 crit vs 25 CA damage? Assuming you not are at the caps?

I always figured

1 crit = 25CA = 2 DA = 2 haste/dps

That sounds somewhat right... but theres things to consider.

CA damage stops giving bruisers the full benefit after about 100 or so, due to the fact that our raid buff is giving us 112 already, and we have several CA's that have a low minimum, IE 100 hands, front kick, Hammer... etc. Your low end will stop getting an increase pretty quickly depending on your strength.

Also, Crits work alot better for auto attacks then they do for CAs. For Fighters, currently crits only add 30% to whatever the hit woudl have hit for normally, whereas on autoattacks they do a minimum of max damage+1. This means your can crit a front kick for 500, then your next front kick might be a non crit for 1000.

Genreally I try to focus more on stats that boost my autoattack. I value Doubleattack and DPS mod alot higher than +ca damage. In fact, I don't care about +ca damage at all, as it somehow happens to find it's way onto the gear I want regardless.

Just as important as crit, is to make sure your Strength is as high as possible. Higher STR affects everything, just as crits do, but the higher STR allows those crits to crit higher.

I agree with Crabbok. While I dont use a formula here is something else to consider when prioritizing them.Another reason you might put dps and haste above CA is that, since Dev Fist stifles us for ~30 sec, during that time you are only autoattack. And if you have the AGI line that reduces DF reuse timers to 4.5 min, you can use it quite a bit.I've made very good use of using Crane Flock (100% DA) just before DF in order to have max dps during the "down" time because my gear priority is crit, STR, dps, haste,CA.Cheers

I thought consensus was closer 1 crit to 35 ca.Also, and more important to me, I have never seen any opinions on DPS in that equation until now. According to the equation in this post, I don't understand why the Ivy Shrouded Earring of Tunare seems to always get shelved first thing in T8 for a 2 crit earring like droag talon plugs. The +8 DPS seems to handily beat such T8 quest loot.
