I just got a new computer with windows vista 64 , gtx 280 graphix , 4gigs of ram, new hd 450gb + one old school raptor hd 70gb

When I launch the game from the old hard drive it runs fine, all old settings there everythings happy go lucky. When I go to patch the game, the launcher begins downloading the launch pad, and then followed by the entire game all over again. Is there something I can do to save myself the trouble of reinstalling the entire game from scratch?

You will need to work around the Vista security called User Access Control (UAC)1. Right click on the program launch icon2. Left click on "Properties".3. In the new window that pops up click on the "Compatibility" tab.4. In the "Compatibility Mode" area check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"5. In the drop down list make certain that "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" is selected.6. Under "Privilege Level" make certain that the box next to "Run this program as administrator" is checked.7. Click on "Apply" then click on "Ok".8. Double click on the program launch icon.Give this a try and let mw know if you need more help.

All setup and I disabled User Access Control, Same problem occuring though. I'm unsure what is causing this patcher to think that the game is not there, but running eq2 is fine and dandy. Any way to indicate to the patcher that the game is in x directory and it doesn't need to download everything onto my desktop ?

You can try runninf everquest2.exe. This bypasses the patcher and goes straight to the game. Of course if you havea mismatched version then the server it will alert you to this.
