eq2 client application has stopped working

<p>I just installed the game on my new computer, got all my digital downloads done and went to play. well when the game launches i get a message from windows (i hate vista btw) saying my eq2 client app has stopped working and the game closes. any suggestions? </p><p>may be related: i'm also missing 3 toons as i mentioned in the account related issues, and the drop down box you use to select the toon you want to sign on only says "character select not available" and i cant choose the one toon i have left.</p>

If you are running Vista, make sure that you are right clicking on the game launch icon, and then select "Run as Administrator".As for your characters showing up, they will be there after you successfully log in for the first time.

I have been running the game as an admin the whole time. the problem still exists. any other thoughts?

after you launch EQ2 open task manager, go to processes tab, right click everquest2 and set afinity. Set it to use only one core. That worked for me...

it wont let me set affinity.

i'm sure this is just some simple setting or something. its a brand new computer, all i have on it is eq2 and act... i bet itd be working if dell woulda sold me xp and not vista ugh

<p>when i try to set affinity from my processes tab an error box shows up and says i cant. </p><p>this is my system:</p><p>-The system is completely brand new out of the box. first thing i installed was eq2 KOS, then i DD'd the rest of it. then i DL'd act. thats all.</p><p>dell inspiron 530s</p><p>Intel(R) Core(TM)2 duo CPU e8300 @ 2.83GHz</p><p>4.0 G of RAM</p><p>Graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT</p>

<p>ok so i reinstalled the game completely and still no dice. there must be a reason why the eq2 client app stops working while the game is starting up. this is what happens:</p><p>-i open the game, character select is unavailable-i hit play without choosing a toon (b/c i cant)-screen goes black like its about to start the game, mouse even changes to the eq2 mouse-before any video plays the warning box opens saying the eq2 client app stopped working-program closes</p><p>any help would be appreciated thanks</p>
