Hello,

My wife and I deleted our characters over a year and a half ago when she was about 4 or 5 months pregnant. We decided we had so much going on in life, we needed to concentrate on the new baby.

Now that we are in a routine, I think I would be able to play casually (when our daughter sleeps, after her bedtime, etc...)

However, we stupidly deleted our characters before canceling our subscription.

Is there any backups or archives from where you would be able to pull our characters back to life?

Please let me know what information you would need from my end.

If not, I don't think I would have the patience to start over as a newb

Do I have any chance at retreiving my characters?

Ouch. I have heard that they do a one time restore... But that is usually done within days as most times it is an accident....You may want to contact them directly to see what your chances are... Good luck!To be honest though, the game has changed sooo much since you left, you might enjoy starting over.

They do not go back that far. Sadly if those charcters where delted that long ago, they are deleted for good. I believe the furthest back it can go is 6 months.

Changed a whole lot? I hear that grouping at lower levels is not very common anymore. That was one of the things I liked best about the game. Any thoughts on that?

Since levels 1-20 fly by pretty fast these days folks don't often hop into an instance or group until they hit the high teens or low twenties. I do see folks running through Wailing Caves on occasion, but it doesn't really pick up until you're ready for Fallen Gate, Stormhold and Crushbone Keep (19 or 20+).

The best thing you can do is use the LFG tool and send a note out in level chat "X class starting group for Wailling Caves" ... basically LFG messages with a purpose attached get a bit more action than someone wanting to wander around a zone without a purpose in mind. If you're in a guild with tons of alts and new players your chances will improve. Also, don't discount running with less than a full group. Even just a friend or two to run with can be a blast and you don't have the hassle of fretting about waiting for a specific class to join, ideal setups, or 6 different opinions on what to do. Now if you're on a PvP server the grouping starts quick. That's another option you might consider.

All that being said, play your new toon for a couple of sessions and the leveling will soon slow down and people will be grouping up more and more. A lot of the grouping that happens though is for instances or quest related. I don't often see roving bands of 6 folks prowling overland zones unless they're traveling to an instance on a pve server. Plenty of duos and trios though. I've met quite a few couples that play together or parents that play with their kids.
