View Full Version : Total Crash! (Starring: Same computer as always)
Hi peopleThis is my last bullet. I hace tried everything I could find on internet about any possible problem with everquest2, but this is totally out of my range of thinking. My computer: AMD DUal Core x64 +4400 (Toledo) 4Gb Ram,Geforce 8800GT, Motherboard ASrock 939Dual Sata2, XP64 (With all the latest fixes, patches, updates, drivers and supercazzolas)Here is the story:-Playing Everquest2 for several months. Specs at High. Some crashes from time to time (somedays one crash, some other two, some other none). Turning off shadows helps a lot.-Update computer to a 8800GT (from a 7900GT) and 4Gb Ram (from 2GB). No problem at all. Same crashes as before and no speed improvement at all. The game works and plays fine.- Stop playing for 3 months- Return with exactly the same computer. No changes to the operating system, drivers or any other thing related to gaming. - Playing fine for 3 days, and then with no dam_n reason, crash almost everytime I move my character. I was running by Klakanon with some guildies last night, and I started to crash more often. Then more and more and more, and now it is totally unplayable. And you know, it is not a crash to desktop. Sound freezes, monitors will shutdown and the dam_n computer freezes and needs to be shutdown, because if i reset, my monitors will not activate and while the XP is loading in background, they will stand there with blinking leds like two pieces of crap plastic. So, i have never took so much time trying to fix a problem with a game, but well, i love this game. I was returning to play with a lot of illusion and in the first hours of gameplay before the first crashes I was feeling really great coming back to the world of Norrath...Oh i forgot... this only happens in this game. No other game or application hangs up my computer, and believe me I play a lot. I have done stress tests to graphic card, processor, memory checks, hard drive defrags, swap file fixed size....I have reinstalled all my drivers one by one (with clean uninstalls), rolled back to old and recommended drivers and beta too.Hell, even i have tried to play with no sound drivers...Any ideas? Im totally empty of mine...Thanks

Thanks for the advice. I have tried to paste all the text of the required files here, but it seems that my files are big enough to go beyond the text limit per message, so I had to put the text in google reader. I hope it is ok.DXDIAG: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dgmt98x4_09k5c76chEQ2_RECENT.INI: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dgmt98x4_1cxkjhddpMSINFO: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dgmt98x4_2dzcwvzc8I really need help. You seem to have quite a few programs running...Lets start with a clean boot to start things off.1. Select the START button.2. Select RUN, then type in "msconfig" (for Vista, type msconfig in the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu)3. Press OK4. Select the STARTUP tab.5. In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY. If you use Windows XP, please note that SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY will not be listed - just uncheck the entire list.6. Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer and try the game again.
Unfortunately, the problem still exists Apart from the suggested, i have tried to unplug 2GB of the 4 i have. I have done some combinations with the modules (as specified in the motherboard manual) and everytime the crash appears.I have disabled the onboard audio and installed a soundblaster live 5.1, but nothing has changed. Also, I have been doing extensive tests to the computer for processor performance, memory, gpu and hard disk.Id think on formatting as the last option, because i need the computer to do some jobs, but hell, i want to play Thanks for the help
I was thinking about killing myself when I came up with an idea. If Everquest2 is the only online game I play, and also is the only game that crashes... then could it be something related to network?.I reactivated my lord of the rings account just to test my theory, and you know what? it crasssshed. Not so often like Everquest2, but it was the same error. So, i removed the network card and blow the dust out of a very old one I had in the limbo of my house. While I was pluggin it, I think I heard a whisper coming from that old realtek card. "I told you..." It said. Thanks for the help!
