I put together my new desktop just yesterday, and spent almost 2 days d/ling the patch to this game.E8500, gtx280, 4g ram, vista 64 bit, gpu driver 177.83 which is newer, because it has the physx stuff. (Forcewithin)after it's done patching, I click on play and then vista tells me that the game could not load and it will let me know if there's a fix. Can't figure out what to do, I have UAC off, i try it as administrator, i tried making it compatible to xp. but nothing. I heard it has some problems w/ directx 10, but my friend says it works on his vista 32 w/ dx10. It seems silly to go back to 9.0c, it almost feels like im gonna damage my computer. Should I also try the 177.41? june 26, 08.Any ideas out there? Thanks.Because this is pretty lame. Bad #$% gaming rig can't even play a simple game.
You have to install DX9 on vista to play dx9 games. It runs along side of dx10 so no worries.

just got an email from tech supportWe apologize for any difficulty running our games in Vista - Microsoft changed a few settings to Vista that can cause a few issues running some of our games. Please refer the following link for more information.Answer Title: [TECH] Video Walkthrough: Download Cancelled Error or Play Button will not appear (Vista)Answer Link: http://help.station.sony.com/cgi-bi...ated=1180134906Continuing our efforts to keep pace with current technology, most of our games will be upgrading to DirectX9.0c (August 2007 version) to allow us to take advantage of many of the new features and fixes since our last upgrade in the middle of 2003. 1. Get the DirectX 9.0c (August 2007) redistributable version (Caution: Download is about 52 MB) at: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...&DisplayLang=en2. Run directx_aug2007_redist.exe. Extract the files to an easily identifiable directory. (We suggest using C:DIRECTX as the directory path.)3. Go to the directory the files were extracted to in step 2. Run "DXSETUP.EXE" from that directory. Alternatively, if you used the example we provided in step 2, then you can just go to the Start menu and click on Run, then enter in c:directxdxsetup and then click OK.4. Accept the license agreement. Allow the installer to update the DirectX components.
