ok here I go yet again, back in around early may I was forced to quit as I was getting huge packet loss and high pings just from casting any spell in any zone. I found out few weeks later that comcast was having issues routing through AT&T why that affected me I've no idea as I'm uk on virginmedia! at the time I was using vm's standard speedtouch usb modem when this problem happened I would get a red light flashing on the modem and have to reboot.

Changed to a billion router and things improved by about1% so I quit playing untill I heard about the fix that AT&T were supposed to be making and,,,, things went back to almost normal BUT! instead of heavy packet losse every few seconds I'm still getting really high pings from 120 right up to 5,000! this is driving me utterly nuts lately and things are not improving I could zone from sq to ant and perhaps open my inventory and my ping will go from 250 to 1,200! below is a route trace I've done today!

Tracing route to amseq2-03-01.everquest2.com [195.33.139.96]over a maximum of 30 hops: 0 canning-a6d35b5 [192.168.1.100] 1 192.168.1.254 2 brnt-bam-2.network.virginmedia.net [194.145.148.7] 3 brnt-t3core-1a-ge-110-0.network.virginmedia.net [195.182.179.125] 4 bre-bb-a-as0-0.network.virginmedia.net [213.105.174.245] 5 pari-ic-1-so-000-0.network.virginmedia.net [62.253.188.98] 6 AT-and-T-GLOBAL-NETWORK.sfinx.tm.fr [194.68.129.252] 7 32.119.116.129 8 vl50.amsixmsfc-1.sonyonline.net [195.33.129.76] 9 195.33.139.96

Computing statistics for 225 seconds... Source to Here This Node/LinkHop RTT Lost/Sent = Pct Lost/Sent = Pct Address 0 canning-a6d35b5 [192.168.1.100] 0/ 100 = 0% | 1 0ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% 192.168.1.254 0/ 100 = 0% | 2 37ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% brnt-bam-2.network.virginmedia.net [194.145.148.7] 0/ 100 = 0% | 3 36ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% brnt-t3core-1a-ge-110-0.network.virginmedia.net [195.182.179.125] 0/ 100 = 0% | 4 37ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% bre-bb-a-as0-0.network.virginmedia.net [213.105.174.245] 0/ 100 = 0% | 5 44ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% pari-ic-1-so-000-0.network.virginmedia.net [62.253.188.98] 0/ 100 = 0% | 6 1415ms 98/ 100 = 98% 98/ 100 = 98% AT-and-T-GLOBAL-NETWORK.sfinx.tm.fr [194.68.129.252] 0/ 100 = 0% | 7 --- 100/ 100 =100% 100/ 100 =100% 32.119.116.129 0/ 100 = 0% | 8 59ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% vl50.amsixmsfc-1.sonyonline.net [195.33.129.76] 0/ 100 = 0% | 9 49ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% 195.33.139.96

Trace complete.

AS the trace show hops 6 and 7 are linked to AT&T and it is there and only there I get a problem!

I have tried the obvious as in power cycle the modem for 10m 1hr and several hrs! no luck my route is still the same! tried port forwarding which billion routers don;t seem to support very well, but no change! my system is upto date and untill this AT&T problem I had zero problems.

Called VM and confirmed there is no line problem so this is certainly a AT&T or SOE problem! I would like to get this finally sorted or I'm really thinking of quitting for good as I'm paying from something that is not running as well as it used to be from a problem which I can't solve

This is definatley one of those issues where neither end can fix the issue. I will send this to someone that has a contact within ATT though to see if anything can be done.

many thanks for that TrevorG! I forgot to mention in my post that when either logging in or zoning the loading ui resources takes quite a while to load since this problem, I have already tried deleting and redownloading all the default ui but no change so I'm assuming it's all linked as I never had this problem before this started! but thanks for the help.
