Every time except once since Saturday afternoon (I logged in fine Saturday morning) I have been unable to log into EQ2. I get through all the start-up stuff, and then get to the second splash screen (the RoK one), and then get the "Trying login server #2" "Trying login server #3" until either it gives up or I do and press the quit button.I can see that my computer is actually exchanging traffic with the login servers, it's sending UDP packets and receiving UDP responses from them, so it's not a firewall or network issue. The client starts by sending 14 bytes of data to UDP port 9100The login server sends 2 packets back in reply, the first 21 bytes the second 98 bytes(Obviously the data is encoded/encrypted so there's nothing meaningful to me to see in the packets)The above process is repeated 4 times, then it moves on to another of the login servers and the problem repeats. I thought there might possibly be a problem with my account (though I don't know what it might be), but I am unable to login to "my account" on eq2players because of "scheduled maintenance".Any ideas?

If you PM me your station name I can verify if it is an account issue or not.

I get the same error when plugged directly into the cable modem, so it's not a problem with my home network / router.I get the same error when I exit from both SpySweeper and BitDefender, so it's not a spyware/anti-virus problem.I get the same error when Windows Firewall is disabled.Kinda at a loss here.

I uninstalled EQ2, deleted the directory, and reinstalled / repatched, and I still get the same error. Default UI, nothing changed from the install/patch.

I think I may have found the problem --Bitdefender's firewall has an option on the "advanced" tab that says "Monitor changes in programs that match firewall rules". Playing with Bitdefender in "game mode", one of the things that happens is that popups are disabled. I finally noticed an entry in the logs that Bitdefender had detected the change in one of the EQ II files and had quietly (since popup notification is disabled in "game mode") taken the action "deny".When I unchecked that option I was able to connect (3 times in a row!). Then I re-enabled it and was still able to connect (so I think the signature got updated). We'll have to see what happens next time I patch.
