Let me say first I am an Eq2 noob having finally tossed Wow out the window after getting a new computer than could run Eq2. Yes my old pc was crap. Anyway, love the game so far. Better graphics, quests, combat ect.

Where I messed up is that I went to level 30 without paying much attention to AA or tradskills or gathering. Im having a really tough time beacuse of all this. I solo all the time since I dont really know anybody yet and Im feeling really weak atm. I have like 24 aa and all my CA are ap1 for the most part due to lack of money.

I read that its good to lock your level at 10 and rack up AA from doing noob area quests in all the zones you can and harvesting for rares. How many AA can one expect to get by locking like that and doing the quests from mutiple areas?

Should I just make a new monk?

Theres nothing wrong with 24 AA at level 30. I never lock XP on any of my toons and expect to hit 100AA at about the same time I hit level 70.As for harvesting, it can be a pain to keep the skills up at the begining as you level so fast. Just go back too earlier zoons and practice.Tradeskills are a matter of personal choice.

Re-roll? No way, you're doing fine on the AA's.

But you should definitely get your spells updated to Adept I's. The best way to make money in the game at your level (in my opinion) is harvesting. Take a few hours to harvest. Depending on how low your harvesting skills are, you'll have to start harvesting in Atonica or Commonlands (maybe even in the noob zones) and work your way up. At 90 skill you can start harvesting in Thundering Steppes. It'll take an hour or two but in this way you will 1) raise your harvest skills and 2) give you some stuff to sell on the broker.

Next time you are at the broker check out the prices for belladonna roots and carbonite clusters. Sell a few stacks of these and there's an Adept I spell!

Good luck!

EDITED: to say that if you can't afford Adept I's, Apprentice IV's aren't a bad way to go. Sometimes I would level so quickly that I'd just buy the App IV's until i hit the 40's and my leveling started slowing down. Then I'd get the Adept I's.

Sell all harvested rares and adept 1's on broker. Then buy your adept 1's, or if any of your adept 1's are outrageously priced just get it at app4.

Ok, I wont give up yet. I started gathering then went to do a lil crafting. I found the crafting not fun at all so it looks like I will go the harvest way. Thx guys.

It's not even a good way to make plat until you hit the higher levels, perhaps. For example, my 44 carpenter can harvest an rare ebon cluster and I'll be able to sell the rare on the broker for more gold than I would get if I crafted a house item using the rare. So in some cases crafting can actually cost you plat.

Harvesting and selling drops... that's the way to go.

Nevah give up on your monk. >.< And don't worry about the AA thing, hell, a lot of us here, me included, have played since beta, and we leveled up without any AA's at all and junk gear to boot! So you're fine, just keep at it. If you don't like crafting, at least keep your harvesting up with your level, it makes things easier when you hit endgame because harvesting is big bucks later on.I dunno what server you're on, if you were on Crushbone I'd help ya out. *edit* oh you are on crushbone. >.< you can send Khandor a tell, though at the moment I'm on Xendrath, my iksar wizard.

Thx for all the help guys, I spent all day yesterday gathering. It worked great! Logged in this morning and was able to afford Adept 1's for all my CA. I was also happy to find out how good monks can harvest. Yay for invis and fd.
