If you want to be an ultimate soloer, try Necro. But you still will not be able to solo epic targets Brigand is a good soloing class too actually, maybe the best among scouts (IMO). But it takes time to polish your skills before you can go against harder targets. And you need skills and some basic understanding of game to find only those you can beat and pull single targets and not the whole room, etc., etc. Otherwise... try WoW, it's truly whack-smack-whine

Is this thread a joke or something? Brigands are probably the best melee class in the game for soloing on single targets. Who cares if they aren't quite as good at multiple mobs? When I was levelling my Brigand up I was killing solo mobs ten levels above me and heroics two or three levels above me. I did all the quests in Bonemire at 55-56 when all the mobs were red con and I had all the Kylong Plains quests done by like 66-67.

Believe me I've played all the melee classes in this game at least a little, and Brigand beats them all hands down unless you're just looking to kill hordes of lower level solo mobs, in which case roll a Swashy or Zerker. I agree with the above guy, if playing a Brigand is too hard for you, go play WoW.

My brig solos very well indeed, pretty much anything in his level range. I do have to be careful about heroics but can give even those a run for their plats.

I have a super raid equiped brigand and believe me that for soloing I have never seen a class this effective... I kill everything so fast I often don't even get hit once !!

Yes, mages are usually good for soloing, druids also, SK, Brawlers, Swashy...these are the top soloing classes.

Cypthekiller199 wrote:
Cant solo for crap! Any more than two enemies and im dead...man this is frustrating...every class sucks in eq2

Brigands are a really good solo class if you actually know how to plaay them. I'm guessing thaat you don't, looking at this post...so, here are a few handy solo tips.

1: DPS is king. You are not a tank, so don't bother setting yourself up like one. Granted, some good brigands will disagree, but take your defensive stance off your hotkeys bars - it robs you of dps and just doesn't make that much difference in your survivability solo.

2: You can't take groups of mobs, you have no crowd control, one measly AoE. If you need to kill groups no need to wear them down, one by one. If I need to take out groups of heroics I use 'Feign' and kill them one or two at a time, 'Feign', then repeat until they are dead.

3: Tactics are important as a brigand. You can't just run in and kill stuff without tinking about the way that you are attacking a mob. For example...you MUST be behind the mob if its anything even remotely nasty. So, for solo you want 'Walk the Plank' or to practive stunning and leaping behind, and you have to understand the duration of your locking, stunning and rooting spells. Your goal is to spin and lock the mob facing away from you long enough to unload everything you have BEFORE the mob can turn and hit you. You should be able to unload your entire set of back attacks, and be well into your non-positional attacks before it turns, then hit it with the rest of your attacks and kill it. In a cramped dungeon, if you can't kill it in one attaack cycle its likely beyond you. Outside, you kite and repeat as necessary.

Now, i know others have a slightly different layout, butthis one just works for me, with my gear (T8 legendary and raid mix) and CAs (mostlyT8 AD3 with a few T8 M1). On a single mob I can relaibly manage solo about 3K dps on a heroic, much more spike damage on non-heroic or a mob that dies faster

So:

Double throw (stuns target) and close in while its reeling,

Walk the plank (spins and locks target),

Dispatched,

Clock (roots and locks target),

Enfeeble,

Double Up (recasts Clock for you) ,

Bloodrake,

Piercing Stab (not positional, but increases the damaage of everything that fiollows),

Sidestab,

Entrail (many cast this earlier to double it up, I prefer to have my debuffs and stuns double up),

Spew,

Stunning Blow (Stuns),

Boot Dagger,

Rob,

Sinister Strike (if available, also debuffs nicely)

Battery and Assualt

Cheap Shot (Stuns)

Roughen

Remiss

Jagged Blade (reduces mobs dps, since he is usually turning around near to now)

Torporous Strike

Compromising Thrust (Careful, you take more damage after casting this)

Also, if its not dead, Shenanigans cast here sometimmes is handy but I rarely bother, and my AoE gets used if the area is otherwise clear.

Most mobs die by now....and you may need to tune when exactly you cast your stuns.

Hope this helps?

Shhhhh! Don't let anyone else in on our secret! What you are supposed to say is:"Yes, brigands do suck. Go make a swashie instead."

You all who say brigs cant take on more than 1 mob never used Band of thugs on one and then evade then kill the other one have you?and im talking herioc mobs not the yard trash. Brigs rock at solo. Maybe they are a bit weak at lower levels but with the stuns they get and increased durations aa line most mobs wont even touch you. Btw if you solo a lot go int line and get the fd even if you get 2 mobs you can kill 1 and fd and kill the other 1 later.
