Hello, and thanks for the assistance in advance. My wife's computer (AMD64 X2 5000+, GeForce 8200 mainboard, nVidia 8800 GT 512MB video, 4GB RAM, Win XP SP3) is having a very frustrating issue with EQ2. While it has no trouble with Vanguard or other graphically intense games, it will suddenly restart or shutdown her computer at what seems like random. We finally got a blue screen message this morning.Stop: 0X0000008E (0XC0000005, 0X00657867, 0XB45795D4, 0X00000000)Typically, the PC will just shutdown instead of displaying an error message. It's been difficult to troubleshoot, so if anyone can shed some light on the above error we'd appreciate it a great deal. Thanks again.Edit: I've just flashed her BIOS to the latest version, installed the latest drivers for my chipsets, and did my best to track down the problem(s) using the Event Viewer and reading the minidump. We'll see if the new drivers make a difference.Edit 2: It's still restarting at random(?). Still seeking assistance! Thanks.

Bumping -- any suggestions, even ones that would help with troubleshooting rather than outright solving the problem, would be greatly appreciated. The frequency of the instantaneous reboots is ucnhanged after updating BIOS firmware and all other device drivers.A virus and spyware sweep came up clean (it's a new computer). Strangely, her old computer had this problem too. The only thing the same is the CPU and the keyboard. The mainboard and everything else is new.Should I reinstall Windows on her PC? Any ideas to track this issue down? Thanks!

I'm having the exact same issue, albeit my system specs are not nearly as good as hers are, I am able to easily run games with higher and equivalent reqs as EQ2 has.Running a Dual Core 2.2 GHz 2.0 GB ram with nvidia Geforce 7600 and win xp HE

We've only had one blue screen appear on her computer with the above information, and, unfortunately for us, it did not list a misbehaving driver as they usually do. Windows has been set to display a BSOD rather than auto-restart, but, for whatever reason, the PC will simply shutdown as though the plug has been pulled. No warnings, no error messages, and, except for one instance, no blue screen messages. When she gets home tonight I'll post a DXDiag and MSInfo report. I don't remember her login password! Thanks again.@Mcnaulty: Good luck, I hope we can all figure this out. It's very annoying and tough to troubleshoot.

We have replaced Windows XP SP3 with Windows Vista Home Premium on her computer. As before, everything (including other SOE games) run fine. Once EQ2 is started, however, it's as if the clock is ticking. At a random moment, regardless of activity (or lack of activity), the PC will power off as if someone knocked the cord out of the wall. It's getting frustrating. Should I post DXDiag and MSInfo, or will that be a waste of time? We've replaced the entire computer now with new hardware with the exception of the CPU (which is only two months old) and one hard drive. Memory, video, mainboard, PSU, case, fans, everything else is new. Same results.Could it be the CPU is powering down the entire computer with no blue screen, no Event Log entry, no error on POST, no "Windows has recovered from a serious error" message and no indications of what the problem is? Can the CPU do that?Runnig UBCD's test suite garnered no results either. The CPU and other chips passed 8 hour benchmarking and burn-in tests, stress tests and etc.Or should we write off EQ2 as unplayable for some phantom reason(s)?Thanks.

Posting a DXDIAG and MSINFO as stated in HERE, would be useful as well.

Ohh, this seems very similar to my problem. I do not want to interfere on this thread, but maybe you may want to check out how things end up in my thread. Atm im trying the first solution TrevorG suggested.BTW, looks like we share graphics card and 4 gb of RAM.http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=427179Good luck

The really sounds like a power or overheat issue. have you verified that all the fans are spinning? What is the output of the power supply? Take a look at the lable on the side of the PSU and post what the rails are putting out - depending on the type of PSU iy may have mutliple 12 volt rails
