Hello all,<div></div><div>I have an October 2006 MacBook Pro (Core 2 Duo, 256MB ATI X1600 graphics, 3GB RAM, etc.) which will not reliably run Everquest II and I hope someone might be able to help me get it to run reliably. After a few minutes playing my avatar, the computer spontaneously reboots. No blue screen, etc.</div><div></div><div>I just installed a new, clean Windows XP SP3 Professional, installed Boot Camp 2.0 and Apple Updated to 2.1, then Software Updated (after activating) the few things that were shown. I copied the working EQ2 client from my desktop, and it did its in depth check and let me into the client. A few minutes later, it still did the spontaneous reboot. This is the same behavior it had previously with XP SP2 (an old install from October).</div><div></div><div>I don't know what is causing it, but it would sure be nice to figure it out, please. I welcome any and all suggestions and appreciate the help.</div><div></div><div>Thanks!</div>

Hello!I'm sorry to say I can't be much help; I have the same Pro you have, running the same way except that I do not have SP3 loaded - I just went to SP2 and refused to update any more than that. Have you checked the drivers that Apple supplies for their hardware, under BootCamp? I seem to recall having to tweak the drivers, by updating or rolling back, quite a few times before I could get the game to run even decently (still have to keep my graphics cranked down, to avoid the blue splotches from the graphics card not supporting).Perhaps try turning your graphics to the lowest setting, and then bringing them up from there?

After quite a few reinstalls of XP, and reviewing the boards here, it seems that this model MacBook Pro and Everquest II and Windows XP are simply incompatible. They will always cause a crash, it seems.<div></div><div>So, I installed Vista Home Basic (the only thing that would fit with EQ2's huge size on my 20G partition) and it works fine. Unfortunately, Vista is much bigger and takes way more disk space so it will be an EQ2 only install.</div><div></div><div>So, for anyone who has a late 2006 MacBook Pro (with the ATI X1600, etc.) you will probably need Vista.</div><div></div><div>(And here I though I wouldn't ever have to run Vista. It took a few hours to reconfigure it to look like Windows 2000 and disable all the myriad things it has that are unnecessary for me.)</div>
