Well, i've been trying to get in game for 2 full days now with very little luck. I have been able to see the game twice, for about 10 seconds a piece, and then it boots me right back to desktop. This problem is very similar to the problem that people are having with Star Wars Galaxies, in where you get to character select, hit Play and watch it load until it kicks you back to character select, although in this case it crashes to desktop for EQ2. Now I have tried ALL the troubleshooting suggestions on this forum and the Connection forum to no avail. My computer is only 6 months old with very good parts, and can run every other MMO I have (WoW, AoC, Guild Wars and so on) just fine. So I ask you Sony, can you please just fess up to having a problem with your games and attempt to fix it, rather than blaming it on our routers and computers. I have read many posts about people with the same problem, and you telling them it has to be something on their end, while most of them played the game fine X amount of time ago. I played the trial for this about 5 or so months ago with no problems at all, and now I can't even log in game. So please Sony, fix the problem and please stop blaming it on us, because most of our systems and connections work just fine, but yet they can't play your games for ****.

It would be nice if everything worked for everyone. Works for me, works for a lot of others. What makes the same program on your machine different from mine?Is it because my desk is made of metal, and yours wood?Did SOE send you a different version of the game then I?Could it be the machine itself? I understand it's upsetting when you cannot get in the game and play and have fun. There has to be something going on with your PC or connection to SOE servers that isn't quite right. Feel free to seek help on the forums here and post some mroe PC and network information.

Works on all 5 machines I run at the house and on the laptop I run when I travel. same with Vanguard, SWG, Pirates, WOW. 99.5 percent of the connection and crash issues relate back to end user equipment, software and drivers running on the systems.

We all know SoE chose him to download their new "pay and can't play virus" to. It's so unfair that a huge organisation like SoE keep picking on a select few individuals to be mean to.

Thank you all for you wonderful tidbits of Sarcasm and overall lax of help with the situation that more than .5% of people are having. Seeing as I played a Trial of this game 6 months ago, on the same system, using the same settings, and using the same connection with absolutely no problems whatsoever for the full 14 days. I ask again, how is it a problem on my end when it worked just fine back then? I have no reason to post my Diag's or anything else, seeing as this problem only exists with SoE games. For an update, I was able to log in and play for a few hours earlier this morning, with little problems, but once I exited or rather got disconnected after that amount of time for no reason, it wouldn't let me back in doing the same thing with disconnecting me while try to enter with my character. I can see where a Packet Loss problem could be the culprit, and that could be on my end, but seeing as all other MMO's and Online games I play work fine even with small amounts of packet loss, why do SOE seem to give you the boot if it even misses 1 packet? I would love to hear all of your sarcastic remarks about this problem, because I really enjoy laughing at idiots who only poke fun at others who are having problems, but please keep them to yourself so I, and others having theses problems, can get real help.

Something as simple as the fact the CPE equipment is a Dell and it has the dell help desk software installed on it can be the issue.

So you played 6 months ago fine, great now you are having problems - what occurred over those 6 months that you did not play - did you install any new software, did you checge internet provieders, did you upgrade your router, did you hit a questionable website that had the adobbe flash hack on it and not have updated adobe flash player on your system?

With the deign of the internet - just because you can connect to a different website/game and not the soe does not indicate no issues, unless the different applications utilze the exact same data path it is a moot point since the issue may reside on a tier 1-3 backbone router that only handles the traffic from your dmark when you access SOE servers in their colocs and is not accessed when you hit any other games servers. In the most part if you have a connection problem it is transatory and will clear up in 5 minutes to 5 hours depending on how fast the owner of the router realizes there is an issue and starts on correcting it. when you had connection problems, what did the tracert's show?

The bottom line is the diagnostic data from msinfo, dxdiag, tracerts, router types and configurations, firewall types and configurations are critical to working on the issue, with out them it is a blind shot in the dark to resolve the issue, some times even with them it is a blind shot in the dark to resolve the issue. If it worked earlier and does not work now then the issue is 99.5 percent a connection issue somewhere along your data path from your dmakr to the servers dmark, just becuase you can hit othe sites/games does not indicate an issue on the SOE side at all.

Note, this is not sarcasm:

Posting on the forums that it is Sony's problem and not posting any kind of hardware info is useles. Nobody can help you. To me, it means that you don't care actually play, but rather complain about not being able to play. Most problems on the forums are due to driver, hardware, and software problems. If you would like any help, please feel free to post your dxdiag, info about your router, etc.

It sounds like a connection problem to me. If you would be willing to give that information, people will be able to help you and you will be on your merry way.

I understand the frustration of not being able to log in and enjoy the game that we all know and love . To be perfectly exact with my problem, after getting to the character select screen (Yes this is the Trial version) I hit play, and it starts loading the files, but once it gets to Creating Zone, Loading Zone resources, Finding Entities, Loading Entities, and everything beyond that it will randomly freeze on one of those loads and dump me straight to desktop. Also while loading from zone to zone, since it loads the same things for the other zones, it will drop me as well(Considering I can manage to stay logged in for more than 15-20 seconds.)

I've been having the same problem and nothing I've tried has worked either. Sony definitely broke their game...again.

Are you using a router, or just a modem? Are either of the devices terribly old? Outdated firmware can cause connection issues as well.

Just the modem now. Been using just the modem for a couple months now. Never had a problem. And it's the modem the cable company gave me when I got their phone service.

I've already called my ISP and they're not having any issues and every other game that I play that requires the internet works just fine.

Im playing the Rise of the Kunark Trial, and it's every zone even trying new characters. As to the fact im getting the game for free, that is nice and all that for 14 days I can play for 3-4 of those days, but i'm not really "Trying" the game when I can't even log in.

Dathrek,Your PC specs look fine from what I can tell so far. Everything is up to date. Are you connecting right to your modem or with a router or wireless setup? Power-cycling your router/modem to reset ports can help out quite a bit in circumstances like the one you are currently in.
I wonder if that's my issue too. Haven't power cycled the modem in quite some time. Tried the test server and that didnt' work either.

I wouldnt even try the test server until we can get the live servers going. What model and firmware version are you using?

In the case of the built in chips the MB manufacturers sometimes posted the fixed drivers, or if he is lucky one of the reference drivers would work.

Is that only with the SigmaTel HD Audio drivers? I am afraid I am not as familiar with them as you.

So after a little reading it seems the Wingrider, of course, is correct on the audio device causing issues. I was able to find a more current version of the one you have now. PLease download this, install and reboot. Let us know how it works.http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/m...info/win/138617

The drivers you posted were not for my PC, but I did find the correct drivers and installed them with no luck. I also do not have my router connected at the moment, and have been running my PC with no Startup items except for Norton, which i've also tried turning off and trying the game with no luck.

If I am remembering my dates right the SigmaTel drivers he is running are actually Xp drivers going by the date. Some of the new XP drivers will function correctly under Vista - just a word of caution, it is a try and your own risk. have had pretty good luck with the SoundMax chipset and drivers. Been building some media center systems with them and have had very few sound related crashes

I don't believe I have that program at all, searched for it and couldn't find anything close to that name. I am leaning towards the sound being a culprit, because during the loading screen most of the time the music changes and usually I drop exactly when the music changes. Even with the new drivers it does the same, so I'm at a loss at what to try since EQ2 doesn't have the option to Disable sound.

a number of months ago i bought this game for a friend and it work... when she had her laptop at my house. didnt let her log in her place so i persume it was an issue with her router at fauilt (i tryed port fowarding and many other things). but what i found really bad is after wasting real cash on this game for a friend and posting all details on the tech support forum they couldnt even be bothered posting a responce even if its to say they dont know or conferming its probley the router. 0 marks for coustomer service. they'd rather ignore the customers with the problems that they cant be bothered fixing.

Plain, I tried to help you with that issue back in April.... If it didnt work, perhaps you could have posted back at that time and maybe others or myself could have helpd more.....The forums are a great way to get help from other players as well, however to gain the assistance of the TSR's, the best possible way would be to contact them directly (not on the forums). It is quite tough to diagnose computer issues without being there in person...

I have a very different view about all this customer support people are having trouble with. Have any of you who do have problems tried to contact Sony's support directly? It is under HELP-button at right corner of your screen when viewing this page. From there, select everquest 2 and continue as logical. Eventually you'll arrrive at a place where you can mail them, _live chat_ with them and there are FAQ's also. I suppose some have checked that up but still have problems. Anyway, in my experience most don't bother to ask for help direcrtly.I did get help from there, from two different people. Fix of a problem led to another problem and so on. Eventually, after two days, everything worked fine. I even got a discount because my credit card didn't work as it should have. They also sent a patch personally, to my account. Its just that you propably have to follow a standard procedure before you get real help, if sending regular bunch of info hasn't helpt in the past. If you can take it, you propably get help. I did.

ummmm..funny b/c i am having the same problem as Dathrek. I talked to sony and i did everything they told me to do, and it still doesnt work. They said that they had one more thing that they could try, and it didnt work....and i have a system that is only 4 weeks old, and it has very very good parts in it (i play Vanguard: Saga of Heroes on MAX settings and still get 40-50FPS)
