Just wondering if the devs are working on a fix for the patch problem that many of us Vista users have where we have to disable UAC, reboot, patch, enable UAC, reboot every time there is a hotfix?

I play a number of MMOs on this PC and EQII is the only one with this problem (LOTRO etc patch fine) - so it doesn't seem that patching is the problem per se, just the way EQII does it.

So, not complaining, just wondering, is it being worked on?

Thanks.

There is some awesome information on this issue, where you do not need to turn off UAC.1. Run the Task Scheduler. (Windows Key, type task scheduler and hit enter)2. In the left window pane make sure "Task Scheduler Library" is selected.3. in the Actions pane, click "create task."4. In the general tab, in the name field type EQ25. Make sure the "Run with highest privileges" box is checked.6. Go to the Actions tab and click the "New..." button.7. In the "Program/script:" field, use the browse button to locate and select the EQ2.exe file8. In the "Start in (optional):" field type in the full path to your EverQuest 2 folder. For example: c:program filessonyEverQuest II9. Click OK when you are finished and then close the Task Scheduler.10. Right Click on your desktop and select New>Shortcut11. In the "Type the location of the item:" field enter the following line schtasks /run /tn "EQ2"12. Click Next and enter EQ2 in the name field then click finish.
Once you do that you can go to the properties of your new shortcut and change the icon by clicking the "change Icon..." button and pointing to the EQ2.ico file in your Everquest 2 directory.

Now just use your new Shortcut.

Thanks.

Seems to be working. Tried a while back and it didn't, I may have missed the space in the "Everquest II" path for the 'start in' step.

Will see how it goes when patching etc.

Cheers.
