I made a thread about AA's a eek or so ago, making the char intending to betray to guard for raiding.. but..i've kind of fallen in love with the class ((AE junkie, what can I say >_>) -- as is, I don't really -wanna- switch now, but I -do- want to raid when i get higher in level. Now before i came back to eq II, I was a tank in LoTRO, and one of the best raid leaders on the server had me as one of his three preferred tanks ((and was one of the only tanks in that GAME, who has ever 6-manned the balrog, raid boss >_>) ((I get OCD when tanking, unless told otherwise, everything not mezzed is on me, and i'll go to great -- nigh suicidal lengths to assure that >_>) and i'm sure when the practice i'll get good enough with this games agro system to hold my own, but question is, to raiders in this game reject us by default? or am I at least going to get some sort of chance to prove i'm capable? On crushbone, btw.

If they're looking for a MT, they may reject you. If they're looking for a ST/OT, you're fine unless they're morons, in which case you're better off not getting in.

I have no problem OTing, just wanted a bit o confirmation, as the doom and gloom seems to have infected ths forum, and i've seen comment on other forums to the effect of "I was removed from a raid because they got ZERKER of allthings, [Removed for Content]" in other forums.. trying to see if there is SOME hope, as.. raiding is a fundamental part of the game for me ((insomniac, killing hours doing a raid is love))

we offtank fine but there is still some things that just are out of our control that some other classes can do better, say a paladin with amends can hold aggro better due to all the control effects in endgame if your healers are slack and not curing you spot on. just some things to keep in mind, i'm a control freak too and it annoys the [Removed for Content] out of me when im stunned for more than 1 second so i can get back in there and beat up some mobs and save the dps.

Don't worry too much about the nay sayers. A well played Berserker can tank anything a Guardian can. It may require a bit more work, but it can be done. The problem is we have some really crappy players out there representing our class and they've given Berserkers a bad name. Add that to the fact that most raiders these days have the whole mindset that Guardians are THE MT CLASS end of story. It takes work to be accepted by raiders as an MT unless you're like me and are a founding member of your Guild. Even then if you suck as a tank people aren't going to stay in your raid force or they will demand a new tank.

It's easier to be accepted as a Berserker in the OT position since most people see that as our role anyway. Myself I hate to OT, but if you don't mind it then it shouldn't be too hard to get accepted in a raid guild. Staying in a raid guild is another matter. The OT does not have an easy job and unless you know how to play your class very well you won't last long in most decent guilds. If the OT drops like a sack of potatoes every time he has to pick up the mob then he is most likely not going to be in the raid force for long.

In the end if you learn to play your class to the hilt and work hard on upgrading your gear, it shouldn't be too hard to get into a good raiding guild as a Berserker.

yea we can do it, it just isn't quite as easy to do unless you are a guardian. starting from the ground up as a zerker if that is what your raid wants is also best, if transitioning from a guard to a zerker, well they will probably think you are a poor tank since there is a distinguishable line between us, i MT when our guard isn't on but the force is used to having a guard tank and it seems every night i tank is a new learning curve like they completely forget that we aren't the same class.
